News:

Game setup:

Players: 6 to 8 teams of two players. ONLY DEDICATED PLAYERS, PLEASE! I hate drop-outs! Player should be at least intermediate. Players can sign up as teams or single.

Frequency: starting with 24/28 hours for the first 10-20 years. Then 48 hours. On autohost.

Universe: medium, dense galaxy, farther starting positions, galaxy clumping.

Winning conditions: The winning empire is elected by voting. Team partner may call himself secondary winner. Every 50 years an election takes place according to the share each empire has of total scores. When one empire gets 75% of the votes, it is declared ruler of the galaxy. If any empires at this point refuse to acknowledge the winner, those empires will be allied and all those who acknowledge will be allied. Then it's a fight untill one side is exterminated. If rebels win or loyals surrender, a new election will take place.

PPS: No

PRTs: any PRT (and LRT) allowed.

Special rules et alia: Host will be playing. Password protected races. Slow tech. As default no tech exchange.
Teams may ally freely. Teams may even break up and reform, but no team can be larger than two players. Such changes has to be announced to the host and thus to everyone.
A small number of planets will be pointed out by the host and awarded ekstra votes to anyone who holds those planets at the time of the voting. These objectives will be evenly distributed in the galaxy.

Hosting policy: basically it's dictatorship! I may occasionally take a vote, but the final word in any case will be mine. Apart from that expect a dedicated host.

All other settings default.

The above rules may be subject to changes suggested by those who sign up. Or if I have overlooked/forgotten something.

Map:

These are the planets that give extra votes to any player who inhabits the planet at the time of voting AND claims ownership in the voting (note: is optional).

Additional rules:

I've received some questions about the additional rules. Therefore I have collected some info for explanation.

It is understood that when the game begins, you have accepted these rules and swear by the holy harddisk not to break them!

1. Tech trade banned. What does this mean?
2. How does the voting work?
3. Am I allowed to backstab my teammate ;)?
4. Other terms players must accept.

Note: these rules are subject to changes at any time untill the game begins. After that rules may be added, but no substantial changes will (hopefully) be needed.

1. Tech trade banned. What does this mean?

The purpose of banning tech trade is - together with slow tech - to stretch the period of time where any technology is used. In 'normal' games you will never make use of a x-ray destroyer. You will in this game.

While interesting and fun, this rule opens up for possible cheating. Let it be known, that cheating is no fun. Neither to the other players, nor to yourself. Winning, but knowing that you cheated while doing so, feels bad. Face it.

We're all adults (aren't we?) so we should trust eachother and I'm sure nobody intends to cheat. But to make sure everybody knows what is considered cheating, here's a non-complete list of actions that will be considered cheating:

* Scrapping
* Wolf/Lamb (mock battle)
* Invasion of planets - it's quite common for races working together to colonize planet for each other - building up some Mines and Factories - leave when the final owner gets his colonizer there - and let him invade (which have a 50% chance of yielding tech)!

None of this is allowed. Who can tell if somebody is cheating? Well YOU can - yourself. If you understand the rules, then you'll know when you are violating them. As simple as that!
If you have any doubts about specific actions wheteher or not they are in violation of the rules, simply ask me.

Apart from that, ship transfer is allowed. They just cannot be scrapped for tech.

2. How does the voting work?

Voting takes place every 50 years. There is a total of 100 votes of which 90 are distributed according to players scores and 10 are distributed according to possession (colonised) of particular planets. Each player will tell the NNPP (neutral non-playing person) his score, if he wants to claim ownership of any of the special planets and which empire he votes for as the ruler of the galaxy. Neither the score, nor the vote will be published, but any claims for special planets will. A player may vote for one empire or abstain. It is possible to vote for one self. If any player achieves 75% of votes, that empire is declared elected ruler. Then every player will tell the NNPP if he accepts the ruler or not. Those who accept will be the alliance of 'loyals' and those who don't will be the alliance of 'rebels'. Players will set their alliance partners to friends and the others to enemy (NOTE: this is NOT optional!). At this point teams may be forced to break up because of their voting. It is possible to reject oneself as elected ruler. Elections are suspended as long as this war is on. The war lasts untill one party is wiped out or all empires in a party agree to give up. If the surrendering party are rebels, the elected ruler is winner. If the surrendering party is the loyals, then a new election will be held.

Is it possible to cheat and tell a wrong score? Yes it is, but first of all why? That's no fun! Secondly I preserve the right at any time to ask a player to send his file with password to the NNPP for verification. This will most probably happen if anybody wins the election.

[section about host advatages in voting has been deleted since we are now using a NNPP]

2.1. Resigning from a fraction.

Players may want to resign from fractions before other players in the same fraction agree to surrender (e.g. to avoid anihillation). Resignation should be declared to the host and will be made public. The resigning empire will be penalized by not being allowed to take part in the next election (i.e. cannot vote or win and his score is not counted in the total). This rule is ment to ensure that a player can't just walk away from it's fraction, but must choose between either being penalized or stay (idle) in the fraction and still be fair game. NOTE: making a seperate peace and changing player relations without officially leaving the fraction is to be considered a violation of the games' rules).

3. Am I allowed to backstab my teammate ;)?

The short answer is:yes.

4. Other terms players must accept.

As stated under 2) voting, I preserve the right at any time to ask a player to send his file with password to a neutral (non playing) person for verification.

Gamefiles and passwords can be exchanged between teamplayers, but not between non-team players (or else there would be no difference between teams and alliances, would there?)
