Deputy Nordman joined the Sheriff's department in 1988 as a Jail Officer. In 1989 he was "hired" as a deputy. Deputy Nordman served in the US Navy and traveled all over the world in his duties. Training Deputy Nordman attended the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in 1990. He has attended the Glock Armor School and the Remington Firearms Armor School. He has attended several courses and schools. Duties Deputy Nordman is assigned to patrol and works second shift (4PM to 12PM) or when needed. He is (along with Detective Sergeant Shrider) the department's firearms instructor and a police instructor. His duties are traffic enforcement, calls for service and he has an interest in investigations. At one time he was assigned to the Detective Bureau for a short time assisting them in "catching up". Clubs Deputy Nordman is a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Indiana Sheriff's Association and the National Sheriff's Association. Personal Deputy Nordman is married to Lora and has two children. In his free time he enjoys riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycling, A.B.A.T.E. events and local H.O.G. chapter events. Deputy Nordman is also a very good artist and has started a part time tattooing business. Ron also enjoys the Andy Griffith show.
