Max Wünsche (1914-1995) who served with distinction in Leibstandarte
SS and went to command 12. SS Panzer Regiment of 12. SS Panzer
Division Hitler Jugend. Seen here in the black panzer jacket,
on his left breast are (from viewer's left to right) the Infantry
Assault Badge, Iron Cross 1st. Class,
and Wound Badge. On his right breast is
the German Cross in Gold. Around his neck is the Knight's Cross
of the Iron Cross, which was later augmented with the Oak Leaves.
On the lapel is the ribbon for Iron Cross 2nd
Class. Also visible is his ribbon bar on upper left breast of his
other awards.
A Fallschirmjäger proudly displaying both classes of Iron
Cross, which presumably were awarded at the same time.
Famous Gebirgsjäger general Eduard Dietl (1890-1944), the hero of
Narvik, seen here wearing his Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross
with Oak Leaves around his neck (he was
the first man in the Army to receive the Oak Leaves), the
1914 Iron Cross 1st Class with the 1939 Bar
and Wound Badge on his left breast pocket,
and the ribbon of 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class with
the 1939 Bar on the second tunic button (not really visible in
this photo though)
This Kapitän zur See of destroyers wears on his
left breast the Iron Cross 1st. Class,
and the Destroyers Badge, and on his upper left arm, the Narvik
Shield.
The Panzer revolutionary Generaloberst (Colonel General) Heinz
Guderian (1888-1954), seen here wearing the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with
Oak Leaves, and clearly visible on his second tunic button, the
ribbon of 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class with the 1939
Bar affixed to the ribbon.
