Building your model kit.

The most satisfying aspect of modelling for me is knowing that although it is just a bunch of plastic bits in a box, very soon (sometimes later than sooner!), it will become a recognisable structure. There are not many tricks to building models, but rather patience, care and attention to detail. If you remember these you will go far!
When you open the box check to see first that you have the instructions. These are crucial! Then check to ensure you have all the parts> Sometimes the parts come off their little trees (called sprues) and rattle about in the box. If any are broken carefully glue back together and sand away the glue join when dry. If any parts are missing then contact the shop you bought the kit from and they can arrange either a new part or kit.
Read the instructions! Twice!
When ready to begin building, have a few tools handy. I recommend a good, sharp hobby knife (X-ACTO) or similar, glue (Revell liquid cement with the applicator is my prefered), some cutters and some tweezers. Please use the knife to cut the parts off the sprue as it will save hassle in cleaning up the parts and you won't break them by accident.
