He gives agents mulder and scully great help on cases that they might of over-looked otherwise. He never gives out more information than needed. normally he says just enough, which leads me and other X-philes that he might be dragging that agents into a world of lies or disinformation. eventhough he ended up dying in "the earlenmyer flask" when he gave a parcel containing a frozen E.B.E to one of the "men" in exchange for the life of agent mulder.
After his death agent Mulder's contact was replaced by the character of X.
