the CSM (a.k.a cancer man) has come close to death several times. both Mulder and Skinner have come within a shave of a bullet to killing him. His life was thretened by Lung Cancer but he exchanged his health for the releace of "jer. smith" (a drone alien/human hybrid). Every few X-files they releace more and more about this man.
