Norway has always been closely attached to the USA due to a number of factors such as it's geographical strategic position, close cultural bonding to the "West" group of countries and since the beginning of NATO in 1948, a strategic ally during the cold war and after.
It is therefore Norway's UFO groups have kept a close tie to american UFO groups and investigation of the military system. The likness of the two cultures, mainly due to the moral bindings caused from Marshall help in later time, have resulted in a similar, but redused pattern of UFO acticity.
Norway has not experienced events such as MiBs, secret military bases (a la Area 51) or none of the paranoia that closely follow secret goverment operations, the military activity has been focused on our Soviet neighbour, a task which demanded all of Norway's military rescources during that time. As with the USA, the military needs refocusing, will the UFO area be a new alternative? As suggested in USA? The military in Norway does not have the same threats to the defend the nation against, but have the same budget funding. Where does the money go? CIA has two or three secret bases here, two in Finmark (Northenmost part of Norway.) and one in the south at unknown whereabouts. These are no longer in operation, but the opposition in the Storting (parliament) suspect that the staions were illegal listeningstations, not accepted by the Storting. Also, there's bee some reports of UFO activity around these bases (Decoys?).
Norway is a country consisting of mountains, fjords and has lots of atmospheric interference such as northern lights and reflections of ice etc. In our history, there is mention of lights on the ground, belonging to fantasy cretures called "Nkken", a creture capable of flight and extraordinary movements. In the modern version, these creatures have become UFO's. In modern history, a long term observation of LitS has been conducted at Hessdalen near Rros, Norway. The experiments conducted at the site was electronic noise measurement, radar scanning, thermographic scans etc. A rare oppourty to investigate the UFO's a close range. Although there's some mention of close encounters, they are really rare. The only person in Norway (4.7 million habitants) to come forward with a CE3 is Gry Jannicke Jarlum, a childhood star living alone in the woods. She claims to be the messenger of diverse races, appearing as the greys. Off the record, she's a nut. She wrote a book about her encounters, "Du er jeg" ("You are me") where, allegely, some of the enteties also dictated the story of another world, different astral planes etc. etc....
The UFO reporting in Norway has increased during the last couple of years, mainly because there has been a media focus on the unknown and TV-shows e.g. X-files, PSI-factor. The reports, however, has not changed caracter, the LitS are almost the only group of observations to be reported. This may suggest that a degeneration of the observations has not taken place, only the frequency has changed. This in order, may lead to the conclusion that the Norwegian society opens up to the possiblity of ET-life, but without the haywire stories of abductions all over the place.
