Have you ever wondered what the case titles mean?
Season 1.
1X79.The X-Files or Pilot.As this was the pilot show it was not given a tittle and is usually referred to as The
X-Files or simply Pilot.
1X01.Deep Throat.Taken from the name given to Mulder's informant who is introduced in
this case.
1X02.Squeeze.No explanation given but I would assume it is because Tooms could
squeeze through tight spaces.
1X03.Conduit.Mulder believes the little boy in this cases is a link to alien
abductors hence the title.
1X04.Jersey Devil.In this case Mulder and Scully are on the trial of a creature of
the same name.
1X05.Shadows.Taken from a line Scully says when she refers to ghosts as
Shadows.
1X06.Ghost in the Machine.Not entirely clear but probably means something unusually
was controlling the computer.
1X07.Ice.Trapped by Ice - The alien worm buried beneath the arctic core.
1X08.Space.The case involving the space shuttle which is used to put objects into
space.
1X09.Fallen Angel.The code name given to a crashed U.F.O. by the undercover
government.
1X10.Eve.The name given to the females born in the Linchfield experiments.
1X11.Fire.Mulder and Scully confront a man capable of controlling Fire by his
will.
1X12.Beyond the Sea.The title of a song playing at Capt. Scully's funeral.
1X13.Genderbender.An alien? group who can change sex at any time by choice.
1X14.Lazarus.The name given to the biblical man who rose from the dead, just like
Dupre in this case.
1X15.Young at Heart.Your only as old as you feel, unless you can grow younger.
1X16.E.B.E.Abbeiviation of Extraterrestrial Biological Entity. What Mulder and
Scully are chasing over the country.
1X17.Miracle Man.Samuel Hartley is the man who can perform miracles.
1X18.Shapes.The Indian manitou is a wolf and a human but can be only one shape at
any one time.
1X19.Darkness Falls.When sunlight fails is when the bed bugs bite.
1X20.Tooms.The surname of Eugene who returns with a vendetta for Mulder.
1X21.Born Again.This is what Mulder believes happened to the soul of dead man but in
the body of a little girl.
1X22.Roland.The name of janitor being controlled by his dead twin.
1X23.The Erlenmeyer Flask.The lab equipment which contained more than Mulder and
Scully could have imagined.
Season 2.
2X01.Little Green Men.Are these what Mulder has been seeing all his life?
2X02.The Host.The flukeman requires host bodies for it's offspring to grow.
2X03.Blood.The main fear of a man in a town being used in a mind control
experiment.
2X04.Sleepless.An experiment during the war leaves a marine core without the need
for sleep. A state they have been in for twenty four years.
2X05.Duane Barry.The name of the ex-F.B.I. agent who claims to be an alien
abductee.
2X06.Ascension.Scully is missing and Duane Barry says she was taken by aliens -
ascending to the stars.
2X07.3the name given to the group of three people who claim to be vampires.
2X08.One Breath.Scully returns but is very weak. In fact she is only one breath
from death at any time.
2X09.Firewalker.The name of the robot used to explore volcanoes.
2X10.Red Museum.The name given to a religious cult.
2X11.Excelsius Dei.An old peoples home of the same name has some strange
happenings.
2X12.Aubrey.Strange happenings again in a town of this name.
2X13.Irrisistible.Not entirely clear but probably because the mans fettish is
irresistible to him.
2X14.Die Hand Die Verletzt.This is translated as "The Hand That Wounds."
2X15.Fresh Bones.What Voodoo priests use when casting curses.
2X16.Colony.What the aliens are trying to make on earth.
2X17.End Game.I have no idea? Does anyone else know? I'll give you credit.
2X18.Fearfull Symmetry.A deep thought as to will Mankind go the way of extinct
animals.
2X19.Dod Calm.This is Norwegian for "Dead Calm."
2X20.Humbug.Where does the truth end and the Humbug begin?
2X21.The Calusari.The group of Romanian religious men needed to perform old
rituals.
2X22.F. Emasculata.The name given to the bug which first carried the disease.
2X23.Soft Light.The only way to avoid casting a shadow.
2X24.Our Town.Not clear but probably to do with the fact that the whole town is
involved in cannibalism.
2X25.Anasazi.A tribe of native Americans Indians translates as "The Ancient
Ones."
Season 3.
3X01.The Blessing Way.The old Indian ceremony used to heal Mulder.
3X02.Paper Clip.An old operation code name from the end of world war two.
3X03.D.P.O.The initials of the lighting boy. Daren Peter Oswald.
3X04.Clyde Brunkman's Final Repose.Referring to Clydes position at the end of the
case.
3X05.The List.The names of five men who will be revenged upon from beyond the
grave.
3X06.2Shy.The name a man uses to meet women on the Internet.
3X07.The Walk.Again this is unclear but must be to do with the fact the injured
soldier is unable to walk.
3X08.Oubliette.I have no idea? Does anyone else know? I'll give you
credit.
3X09.Nisei.I have no idea? Does anyone else know? I'll give you credit.
3X10.731.A codename for a group of scientists working in the U.S. after world war
two.
3X11.Relalations.What Scully believes she is uncovering in a case of a boy with
stigmata.
3X12.War of the Coprophages.A play on words with "War of the worlds" as to weather
aliens are attacking the earth with robots.
3X13.Syzygy.The name give to any planetary enlinement which is what is giving the
girls their special powers.
3X14.Grotesque.The mind of a killer is not a nice place.
3X15.Piper Maru.The name of the boat used by the French seamen searching for the
sunken U.F.O.
3X16.Apocrypha.I have no idea? Does anyone else know? I'll give you
credit.
3X17.Pusher.A nickname used by a man who can make people do things by suggesting it to
them.
3X18.Teso Dos Bichos.I have no idea? Does anyone else know? I'll give you
credit.
3X19.Hell Money.What is used by American-Chinese to please "The Hungry Ghosts".
3X20.Jose Chungs' From Outer Space.Taken from the book title Jose Chung is
researching.
3X21.Avatar.I have no idea? Does anyone else know? I'll give you

3X22.Quagmire.I have no idea? Does anyone else know? I'll give you

3X23.Wetwired.I have no idea? Does anyone else know? I'll give you
credit.
3X24.Talithi Cumi.Another translation. This time meaning "Arise Madden" which is
what Mulder is working towards.
Season 4.
4X01.Herrenvolk.This in German means Master Race which in the case is what the
consortium are working towards creating.
4X02.Unruhe.German for unrest.
4X03.Home.The Peacock family - Not quite the Walton's.
4X04.Teliko.The name given to the African folk tale of "the Spirits of the Day".
4X05.The field where I Died.A raid of a house leads Mulder to a feild. A field where in a past life he died.
4X06.Sanguinarium.Unknown at time of posting.
4X07.Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man.The truth about Cancer Man according to Frohike.
4X08.Paper Hearts.The name of the operation used to catch John Lee Roche.
4X09.Tunguska.The Russian town where Mulder travels in search of alien life.
4X10.Terma.The town in Canada where the Mars meteorite end up buried.
4X11.El Mundo Gira.i duno.
4X12.Kaddish.Jewish name.
4X13.Never Again.title of tatoo on mans arm and basicly the general theme of episode.
4X14.Leonard Betts.Name of Character.
4X15.Memento Mori.I duno but it sounds cool.
4X16.Unrequited.Army theme, requited means disavowed.
4X17.Tempest Fugit.i duno.
4X18.Max.Max Fenig was the main character in this one
4X19.Synchrony.the loss of 9 minutes and mulder using those damn stop clocks
