| White Cross includes gases such as bromine and its derivatives - chloraceophenone and bromine acetic ester - irritant materials but not of high lethality. They are virtually tear gases and produce a form of irritation that is confined mainly to the upper respiratory tract and the eyes. The gases are not persistent or long-lasting, and the effects pass off within a short while of the patient being carried into fresh, uncontaminated air. White Cross gases are usually used for civil disturbances, but several variants are more powerful, like Adamsite. |
