Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease is a horrendous infectious fatal braiin-deteriorating disease One strain, nvCJD, is related to Mad Cow Disease in England. We h ve classical CJD in the US. 13% of Alzheimer patients in 1 study were found on autopsy to have CJD. Some cases are genetic. Some the cause is unknown. Day and nite durning the battle for Saipan he'd go out take care of the wounded while under heavy fire and infiltration by the enemy. He made that trip on e to often and on the island of Tinian they found him dead in a fox hole with 5 enemy bodies with him. The Marines of Company 'G' 2nd Batl. 23rd Marines of the 4th Marine Div. have the highest respect and love for lthis corpsman. I have a very nice pict re of Corpsman Paige standing by his tent on the island of Maui taken in 1944. If any man ever earned the Navy Cross it was Corpsman Paige yet he never got it. Special events will include traditional cake-cutting with oldest and youngest corpsmen attached to NAVHOSP, "brief" speech and a blood draw (goal is 200 units). Wreath-laying at Wall South will be Saturday, 20 June, at 1100.
