THE GIRALDA
The most outstanding symbol which may
be considered the most beautiful canon of muslim architecture.
The base of the Giralda is made of tablet and marble brought from the Roman
City of Italica. The base goes 15 metres down, while on the surface it
is 93 mts high. Designed by architect Ali Algomari, it was
a Minaret intended to call muslim people for praying. In the 16th
Century cathedral authorities decided to rebuild the top to symbolise
Christian power.

THE ALCAZAR
It is a complex world of civilisations
which have left their print on Seville. We can successively see part
of the Roman acroplis, a paleochristian basilica, Visigothic constructions,
a defensive Arabic castle, the first castle, the work of Syrian craftsmen
and the citadel of the 11th century which belonged to the abasies dynasty.
It was then rebuilt by Pedro I (the Cruel), who added all the mudejar work.
This was later reformed by the Catolic Kings, Carlos V and Felipe
II. Don´t miss the Patios de las Doncellas and las Muñecas, the
Ambassadors halls, the Prince´s Hall, etc... .
