AFS PENRITH DISTRICTS
AFS is a not for profit exchange student organization with over forty years experience. Students come from many countries to spend eight weeks (short program), a semester or a year living with families in our area. Students from Penrith Districts have the opportunity to win scholarships or pay to go on a short program, a semester program or a year program in a country with a culture and language different from their own.
Penrith Districts takes in a large part of Western Sydney incorporating suburbs on either side of the M4 motorway starting at Doonside approximatelly 40 km from Sydney and ending at Emu Plain 55 km west of Sydney at the foot of the Blue Mountains. Our district has both suburban and rural communities. The weather in summer is hot and humid and can reach 40C. In winter the mornings can be very cold with a frost but the days will be sunny and approximatelly 18C. Penrith is hosting the rowing, canoeing, kyaking and white water events for the Sydney 2000 Olympics.For more information on the Penrith area click on the web address below.

When not being used for competition the White Water Stadium is a recreational venue where the public can try rafting or kyaking or just spend a pleasant afternoon having lunch at the kiosk while watching others.
The Regatta Centre is hosting the rowing and canoeing events at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games in September.
