A cross on the roadside
a family of 4
then the brakes died.
fear in a childs eyes,
just for a moment,
then an Angel arrived~
With his loved ones eternally
Peace, Love & Harmony
in the kingdom forever free
The cross a monument for all to see~
A tear falling for passersby
for a spirit still felt when driving on by
The Cross reads '64 to '79
a life lived
in such a short while~
I see the cross & solemnly pray
And I thank God for my blessings today
I get choked up, nothing to say,
just chills down my spine
the past is remembered today~
I see the Cross at christmas each year
gifts wrapped with ribbons & a teddy bear,
a christmas tree for a loved one so dear,
decorations & glitter
and a voice we still hear~
A cross on the roadside
memories still so much alive,
a place in my heart when i pass on by,
a tear falling fast, a blink of the eye,
life is so temporary so never say goodbye~
A cross on the roadside
memories in the night,
I thank the Lord for the value of life,
And when I leave for home & I cross over too,
Leave a cross for my memory,
as i watch over you~
