| ABOUT THE LADS John Bond: John was born on a farm at Marton, Blackpool, started singing in the School & Church Choir and has not stopped since! Having played in Skiffle bands in the 50's and later with Distressed Gentlefolk, can be seen playing now with Penny Black and the Wyre Pier Band, John has also played with - The Elderly Brothers and The Fleetwood Mashers and solo in clubs, pubs and Festivals throughout Great Britain - John along with Pete are the hosts at the Falcon Sing around. Pete Skinner: Pete was also born in Blackpool and started playing and singing at a very early age, by the time he was 10 he had his first gig - playing double bass! During the sixties and seventies he joined the folk revival and played with several groups including; The Brewers, The Shoal and Grog and is still a member of several groups playing everything from traditional folk to 50's rock 'n' roll and Goodtime music. Pete has a passion for music and plays most instruments he can get his hands on! his main instruments are acoustic and electric banjo, guitar, mandolin and autoharps (including Q Chord) along with John, Pete host the Falcon Sing around. SOME OF THEIR FRIENDS & FAMILY Who can be seen Playing Singing with Penny Black at times Barrie Parker: Barrie plays Double Bass and Melodian and is often the brunt of John and Pete's scathing remarks about his age, and mental ability! A musician with many years experience playing with a variety of line-ups ranging from Big Bands to Morris dance and was once known to have taken up the Banjo! Bill Hunt: Bill plays electric bass and is well know in Lancashire for his connections with many bands over the years both Folk, Blues and Rock eg. The Old Perculiar Band, Elderly Brothers, Dr Hunts Prescription Blue Band, Willy & the Poorboys Eileen Skinner: Eileen is married to Pete and in the 70's was a member of Grog folk group along with Pete and several others, also a member of Clansfolk the Skinner Family Folk band consisting of Eileen, Pete & son Simon. Plays Guitar, Penny Whistle, Autoharp & Bodhran - but mainly sings Simon Skinner: Son of Pete and Eileen - being brought up in a musical household it was no surprise that he grew up into an accomplished musician, with a wide musical interest. An excellent Guitarist, whistle and Bodhran player - though nowadays mainly specialising in the guitar along with vocals |
