Bow Pulpit - Refinishing |
|
|

Due to my complete lack of wood tools, I have enlisted the assistance of my father (Jerry) to refinish the woodwork on my Penn Yan. I had him start on the Bow Pulpit since I would need it should I ever get it in the water, the rest of the wood pieces can wait. Here are some pics of the progress. It looks great. I have seen one of the finished pieces and it is real nice! |

Here is the top and bottom of the pulpit as it appeared before any work was started. Yuck, a previous owner covered it in the same paint used on the bottom of the hull. The paint was faded and flaking. |

Here it is completely torn down. There are about 45 separate pieces here. Each will be sanded and refinished. I also plan to use mostly new stainless hardware. |

Here is some wood examples. The bottom piece is what the wood looked like straight off the boat, the middle picture is what the wood looks like when sanded, the top picture is what the wood looks like after being refinished. I love it and I bet the whole thing will look awesome. |
