THE CHANGING OF THE SEASONS
 Phyllis Ann ([email protected])

When the leaves of autumn turn the trees to red and gold,
The wood smoke rises from the burning piles into the air turning from cool to cold.

When the days grow shorter, and the pumpkins take on a frosty hue,
Old man winter begins to take his cue.

When I don my jacket and cover my head,
I know a coat and gloves will soon be required to go without being said.

When I remember the fragrance of autumns faded into the past,
Then I recall the fun of new books, school clothes and new friends melded together with simple tasks.

There are many things associated with the changing of the seasons,
And I know they all have significant reasons.

Whether it be spring, summer, fall or winter's ice and snow,
Without them, I would be missing something, I know.

I lived in a beautiful place for a time where the seasons stayed much the same year round,
And I was quite happy with this, I found.

Until years later, I realized that the changing of the seasons was
something I needed down deep in my soul,
I'm sure this innate feeling is something beyond our control.

Thank you, Lord, for The Changing Of The Seasons,
I will never again take for granted Your reason.
