 Every so often, we should all stop and take a good hard look at those people we look up to as our modern day icons. Few athletes, rock stars, movie stars or even the CEOs who used to personify the 'rags to riches' characters we once read about as children can withstand such close scrutiny. There is however, one lady who continues to be much loved and respected by all who know of and/or about her. The more that is known, the more we Americans realize what a truly remarkable woman she is. She jokingly says she owes all her skills and fame to having 'married well'. I don't buy that at all. I suspect that much of the success of her famous husband and their children can be traced to this woman. Should anyone ever ask me to define the character of a 'perfect woman', there are certain words I would definitely use to describe such a woman. She would be intelligent, carry herself with dignity at all times, be compassionate, be involved with the world around her, have a great sense of humor, be devoted to her husband and her children and would unfailingly lead others by her own example. Such a woman is the wife of former President, George Herbert Bush. She is also the mother of one Governor and the mother of our current President, George W. Bush. Barbara Bush is, in my eyes, the very epitome of what a 'perfect woman' should be. While so many of our other icons are proving to have feet of clay, Mrs. Bush continues to grow more dignified and beloved with each passing year. Mrs. Bush has an autobiography coming out this year. I can't wait to buy and read it. I hope you folks will do the same.
