Most who know me realize by now that I love the state of Maine. In fact, Ben and I go to Maine every spring and fall, and have been going for the past four years. This year our fall journey took place during the second week of October because forest rangers had predicted the foliage would be at peak that week. We weren't disappointed because the views were breathtaking.

The morning after we arrived we headed north on route 201, toward Jackman. Jackman is a small town situated fifty miles from the Canadian border. It's also fifty miles from the lodge where we spent our second night. The first photo is one I took of the Upper Moose Head River Valley from the Attean Lookout. The second photo is one I snapped from the roadside along Route 201. The third shows an early morning mist on Moosehead Lake, and the fourth is a scene of the lake and birches bathed in a golden early morning sunlight.

The Coast Of Maine
Acadia National Park, Camden, and Stonington

I love the upper coast of Maine and always want to visit Bar Harbor's Acadia National Park. We usually have lunch at Jordan Pond, then follow loop road to Cadillac Mountain. We spent two days at Bar Harbor then drove south to Camden, one of our favorite harbors. This time of year, the large sailboats are shrink-wrapped for winter.

After we left Camden, we drove to Deer Island and then to Stonington. Both Deer Island and Stonington are situated on a pennisula. Stonington is a village where lobstermen live. I snapped the photo while standing in the rain.

More Of The Coast
Pemaquid Point, Portland Head Lighthouse
Kennybunkport

We had visited Pemaquid Point before, but decided to go again. I love the rocks below the lighthouse and luckily the ocean was at high tide when we arrived. It was rough that day so I got some great shots of the surf.

After we left Pemaquid Point, we traveled south to Portland and to the Portland Head Lighthouse. Although we've seen the lighthouse several times, we always go back.

The last photo is the George Bush home in Kennybunkport. It's a "must see" when I'm in that area.
