WHEN MY LOVE CAME
 Angelia ([email protected])

When my Love came........
He brought stardust to sprinkle in my hair,
He brought music and dancing words,
He told me I was fair.

When my Love came.........
He brought a breathless passion, that locked hold in my breast,
That made me gasp with wanting,
He said that love was a fest.

When my love came......
He brought hopes that made me sing,
He made me believe there was no other,
He said I was everything.

There were other loves though....
And I felt the shadows climb
To darken the stardust and sing dirges,
Dirges of death sublime.

I sit silent in a room alone,
I sit alone and forget to breathe,
I watch the curling petals grow brown,
My love taught me to grieve.

It's then that the very sight of joy,
Is a knife within your soul,
You find there can be no other love,
Only he can make you whole.

When my love came back to me,
The lily's silk and sweetened air,
Showed me what life is all about,
When stardust gets in your hair.

Your body sings a glorious song,
A song divine and rare,
And then a weight closes in on you,
A weight that has no air.

And so you lift your hand to Love,
And smile through tear-dimmed eyes,
And pray that now at last he'll long,
For no other's quickening sighs.

You stand and pray that love will last,
That he has come to stay,
That now he'll cling to only you,
Till death rescues some day.

Oh Nonny nonny, they say the song,
Of love is bright and gay,
Me thinks the ones who wrote that song,
Wrote it before Love went away.

Oh yes, My Love still brings me joy,
He gives me hope for life,
But there in a secret, dusty room,
Is a heart that remembers strife.

Mayhap it means a deeper love,
Has come this time to stay,
Mayhap it means My Love is true,
And never will go away.

Now I stand trembling in my Lover's hands,
Trembling with hope and fear,
Sing me a song, My Love My Love,
That proves you will always be here.

For I am both weak and strong, My love,
I am both brilliant and pale,
I can stand when the night winds blow,
With your love I never can fail...

But don't steal my stardust out of my hair,
Don't let the fear in me rule,
Don't tell me that to have love's joy,
I must learn to be Love's fool.

Don't let me live alone in the dark,
Don't prove that my dreams are all wrong.
Don't hurt again, this raw, bleeding heart,
Don't steal my very last song.

If other loves your heart must have,
Then honor me and be fair,
Allow me to stand with strength all alone,
Even lacking stardust in my hair.
