Grant Adcox was a talented driver out of the southeast.  He first appeared on the NASCAR Winston Cup circuit in 1974 driving a car owned by his father.  His best season in Cup came in 1978, where he started fourteen of the thirty races held and finished 29th in the point standings.  He nabbed his best career finish of fifth at Talladega that year, a track that he would have a lot of success at in his career.  In 60 Winston Cup starts, Grant picked up one top-5 and six top-10s.

He had his most success in major stock car raicng in the ARCA Series.  Adcox was a force to be reckoned with on the superspeedways throughout the 1980's.   He won four times on the big tracks in 1986, a record at the time.  He scored nine career wins, four poles, and still ranks fourth on the all-time ARCA superspeedway lap leader board.

He continued to dabble in Wintson Cup racing despite the small budget of his family-owned team.  On November 19, 1989 during the running of the Atlanta Journal 500 at Atlanta Motorspeedway, Adcox blew a tire and crashed hard on lap 198.  The impact proved fatal.  Grant is remembered annually with the running of the Grant Adcox Memorial race held at Cleveland Speedway in Cleveland, TN.  Additionally, the ARCA series renamed their annual sportsmanship award the "H.G. Adcox Award."
Grant Adcox poses with his car at Daytona in 1974.  Adcox crashed on lap twenty-four of the first 125-mile Qualifying race, causing Adcox to miss the Daytona 500.  He would make his official debut at Rockingham two races later.
#41 Adcox races with Richard Childress at Talladega in 1978.  This was Grant's shining moment in Winston Cup Racing.  He went on to finish fifth while Childress finished ninth.
A common sight to behold at ARCA superspeedway races during the 1980's, Grant poses in victory lane with the winner's trophey.  Adcox's eight wins on superspeedways ranks him third all-time in ARCA history.
