Bobby Abel was an accomplished modified racer on the dirt tracks of Pennsylvania and Maryland.  Among his top racing accomplishments include track championships in the modified division at Dorsey Speedway (MD) in 1965 and '66.  He also captured the Sprint Car Championship in 1955 and again in '66 at Susquehanna Speedway (PA).  Bobby's only NASCAR Cup Series start came at PA's Langhorne Speedway in 1957.  Unfortunately, Abel finished 46th out of 48 cars after his engine blew just fifty-seven laps into the race.  His place in racing history was solidified when he was inducted into the Maryland Stock Car Racing Hall of Fame.  In addition, Lincoln Speedway runs the annual Bobby Abel Memorial race for 410 srpints.
