The first and most important premise of the J-Class Gaming Rules is that, at one time or another, I, the GM, will break almost every rule in the book, and probably some of my own as well. That being said... Character Creation: 1. Current Stat Array (high-power characters): 18 17 16 15 14 13 Notice: I will be changing this stat array in the future. Probably to one more like 16 15 14 14 12 10 2. Free Multiclassing: No XP penalty for multiclassing. 3. Max Hit Points: Characters have maximum hit points per hit die. Mechanics: 1. Opposed Attack Rolls: All attacks are opposed by a d20 roll + the defender's AC minus the base 10. (the roll, in effect, replaces the base 10) 2. No critical failures or critical successes on checks. A natural 1 or natural 20 are treated as any other roll: add modifiers to hit a DC. There are some things that a character will never be able to do, and some things a character can't possibly fail at. There are still critical hits on attacks. 3. The -4 penalty for firing a ranged weapon into melee does not apply to creatures more than 1 size category larger than the creature fighting in melee with the target unless there is some other situational modifier involved. Magic and Psionics: 1. Magic and Psionics are different. Magical and Psionic abilities, while superficially similar to each other, function differently. Qualities that address magic (such as spell resistance and anti-magic fields) have no effect on psionics, and vice-versa. 2. The following spells and effects exists ONLY as special abilities, epic spells or deity-level powers: Gate, Miracle, Plane Shift, Raise Dead, Reincarnation, Ressurection, Teleport(any), Wish(any), and any similar spells or powers. World: 1. The Campaign Setting I generally use is a fantastical version of Earth, of my own creation. This world is still in development and won't be perfect or set in stone for a long time, if ever. Cosmology: 1. The Multiverse is mostly the D&D default described in the Manual of the Planes and uses the Earth universe as the Material Plane, with the following alterations: -The Elemental Plane: All of the Elemental Planes and the Positive Energy Plane are one plane - the Elemental Plane. This plane has many layers composed of elements and combinations of elements and places that are positive dominant. -The Shadow Plane: The Ethereal, Astral, Shadow, and Negative Energy planes are all one plane - the Shadow Plane. It is mostly an empty void (though there are several grand ruins and more than one necropolis) and has pockets that are negative dominant. |
