Society will, in the next few decades, become increasingly split between those who continue to automatically take orders from an increasingly illegitimate political and economic elite who are primarily concerned with looking after their own petty interests (power and profit), and those who have the courage to build new social, political and economic institutions which are able to quickly adapt to meet the challenges of the 21st century. Southeast Libertarian ~ GENERAL PRINCIPLES - A reinstitution of the democratic project at the local, regional, national and international levels based on direct democracy, direct action, solidarity and internationalism. - The abolition of the concentrations of political, economic, social, religious and informational power. - A delinking from the growth economy and its collaborator 'representative democracy' (parliamentary rule) which are not a solution to, but a part of the current crisis. Most people are now aware that this is a political and economic system which is unsustainable. - The political and economic organization of social life reorganized to issue from the base to the summit - from the circumference to the center according to the principles of free association and federation. - 'Rotated' delegates (not representatives) under strict mandates, subject to recall and strict accountability. - Individual rights. The right of every man and woman, from birth to adulthood, to complete upkeep, clothes, food, shelter, care, guidance, education (public schools, primary, secondary, higher education, artistic, industrial, and scientific), all at the expense of society. - Individual liberty, personal responsibility, co-operation and mutual aid. The realization of freedom through equality, in principle and in fact, is justice (i.e. the reintegration of the individual with society, economy, polity and nature.) - We support the basic principles outlined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights* (1948) and support the idea of a Universal Federation of Peoples. We consider human reason as the only criterion of truth; human conscience as the basis of justice; individual and collective freedom as the only source of order in society. * All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. they are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood. (UDHR article 1) * The absolute right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers. (UDHR article 19) * Everyone has the right to take part in the government of his country, DIRECTLY or through freely chosen representatives. (UDHR article 21) WE CHOOSE TO TAKE PART DIRECTLY. |
