This is a "Cinquedea", so named because it's about 5 fingers wide at its base; about 5 inches across at the guard. From the late 1400's, it's Spanish or Italian. This particular Cinquedea is 28 1/2" overall, with a 24" blade, an oak handle with a steel cap, and weighs 2 1/2 pounds.
