INTRODUCTION This is an IAQ about...an online message board. That's it. Really. You are a newbie joining a general online message board. You post messages. The messages affect your status in the board. With the power of the keyboard (conviently attached to your PC free of charge...unless you buy a new one), you can type messages and post stuff. Whatever you post is your choice, but remember that every single word can affect your status - from being an admin to getting banned. Or even kicked off from your ISP and never to touch the internet again. Can you eventually achieve your goal in a year? --- 3. BORING Q&A SECTION Q. What is this? A. An IAQ (Infrequently Asked Questions). Basically, a FAQ about a non- existant game. Q. What platform is this game for? A. The PC because it has a keyboard. You can throw in a PS2 or a Dreamcast or whatever console that supports a keyboard. You also need a mouse as well. Q. Mac, Unix of Linus version? A. No, no and no. You all heathens do not deserve this game at all! MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!111 Q. Where can I get this game? A. In your ass. Seriously, look into your ass to find if this game is for sell in there! Q. Specs? A. Intel Pentium 4 Processer at 2.8 GHz 2G of RAM 10 gigabyte of HD space (minimum) Any video card SoundBlaster Live! or other compatible sound cards Keyboard and mouse required Monitor is optional Q. I'm also working on the secret characters and hopefully more items and the initial stage designs. Q. Who the hell are you? A. I'm Penguin (you can call me PenPen), the creator of the not-so-famed-but-it's-there-anyway Orochinagi Fighters 2: The Orgyfest. Which is a basic ripoff from KOF2K. I have a new project named Battle Schools: Fighters' Marathon that's based on a Nekketsu cross-country game. Other than these stupid IAQs, I am also responsible for pointless interviews with KOF characters and funny (and also pointless) stories that don't make much sense. Q. Future projects? A. A future fighting game IAQ is in order after I'm done with BS:FM. From thereon, nobody knows. --- 4. THE CHARACTERS Look ma, I C&Ped my spaces instead of typing them out! Other than your offline persona that pretends to be online, you have a lot other ppl to meet up in the fake online world in this fake BBS that looks real but it's fake. Here are a few key characters. Yuie182 The admin. A fair man who is...the admin of the boards. He's damn serious though, and doesn't want to waste any time in banning any lamers that are in his way. Rumors say that it's actually a she, but nobody knows. Unique_l33t Second in power to Yuie182, he is very friendly and quite lax about things, but when the going gets serious he can go on asshole mode. Also has l33t hacking skillz that he's not willing to use much unless he finds you offensive or something... Supreme_Veggie-tah A DBZ fan who thinks DBZ is teh best anime evah. Apparently the nick Supreme_Vegeta is taken so he decided to be very creative. Don't argue with him, he'll flame your ass before you know what happens. You should know how to deal with this type of guys. Like, the ban button. But other than that, he seems pretty friendly... Flower Flower's the fun guy who's quite popular among the boards. He likes to organize stuff and generate ideas for the board to be a better place. He's a mod of a few forums, and he just kinda lets everything pass if crap occurs in his forum. DIED This guy is a lamer who is getting banned repeatedly and re-registers him/herself by changing the numbers of Es in his nick (like DIEEEED). Yuie182 has ordered the mods to ban him once he appears. Kind of an idiot that never backs down. Powah_Geezer He's the elder of the boards, always giving wise comments or whatnot to the newer generation. He's a friend of Yuie182, but isn't interested in any position himself. Yuie182 usually takes his advices, but he seldom speaks unless he feels like he needs to. Signet The head of a 'spammer' group who does nothing but spam the board with spam, spam and more spam. Regardless of what he does, he always seem too hyper for some reason. Is getting hated by the board but nobody has taken any action against him. Seems to be quite familiar with DIED. URAFAG The mod of the flames forum. The ass of the forum and loving every second of being it. Usually sarcastic and spouts acidic comments at people he thinks is stupid. He usually bans people who he thinks are 'bad for the board.' Aoyoma One of the girls in the board. Only a select few know her personally. Another popular person in the boards. DDRFREAKAZIOD Another type of fun guy who just mocks himself and enjoys it somehow. However he's a well-respected member and a nice guy overall. He likes to show off vids of him dancing DDR for whatever reason (and no, you can't view the vids in the game). The mod for the Creative forum for whatever reason too. Coltrane A newbie of the boards. An RL friend of your char. Not much is known about him other than the fact that he likes John Coltrane. Penguin Talking some crazy stuff like why he ended up there and how to get the hell out of this board and he can't quit for whatever reason. Otherwise he doesn't do much than whine about jumping into some portal in Hinatasou and crash-landing here. Tama-Chan He/She/It types nothing but "Myu~" or "Mi~" and that's pretty much it, a few guys are trying to mimic its antics but with little success. It is attracting a few guy's attentions though. --- 5. THE WALKTHROUGH (OR LACK THEREOF) Start by naming your character. The name does matter, unless you chose a generic enough name. Your name *can* change a person's first impressions on you. Say you choose by the boring default name of "Shep." Then you can choose an avatar, but you can't upload your own yet until you reach 40 posts after 15 days. So choose a generic one from the list. First off you start off in the forum list. It's still relatively small but here are the forums: Introductions - Moderated by Flower. General Discussions - Moderated by Flower and Unique_l33t. Creative - Moderated by DDRFREAKAZIOD. Games and Sports - Moderated by Unique_l33t. Flames - Moderated by URAFAG. Mods-only - Moderated by Yuie182. First off, start off a new thread in Introductions stating your royal entrance to the world of message boards. Eventually guys will start greeting you and Coltrane, who entered the board earlier than you, joins the fun and said that he introduced you to the board. More welcomes. You can reply and say thanks to up the post count, but you can also start browsing around topics. Other than the key members, the other members are randomly generated. Feel free to reply to the top three forums. Hopefully by day 1 you will have around 5-6 posts. If you have more than 10 posts very few members will start being slighly annoyed with you. Oh yeah, this game is based on fame and karma. Allow me to explain... *** Fame: How famous you are from 0-100, starts off at 0. Karma: How 'good' you are performing in the boards from 0-100, starts off at 50. Say you have a fame of 100 and Karma of 0. This means that you are VERY unpopular and is very likely to get banned (if not already). Say you have a fame of 0 and a Karma of 100. This is only possible only if you haven't posted for a very, very long time and is a very, very nice guy. Normally a high fame will put you in a mod position, and a high karma will put you in a more respected position. *** So just post around for a few days. If you wanna get the 'spammer' type, you can just post a horde of pointless messages around the board. However, your karma will drop faster than you can say "WTFH," so beware. Now, you should have encountered your first task at hand. Coltrane has somehow gotten into an argument with Supreme_Veggie-tah about DBZ in the General Discussions forum. Your friend thinks that DBZ is a waste of time. SVt thinks otherwise. So? You can ignore both of them and carry on with your life, but the friendship level between Coltrane and you will definately drop. What is friendship level? *** Friendship level is basically a measurement of your friendliness with somebody else. Your friendship level with everyone except for Coltrane starts off at 5 ('Trane's start off at 8). This is *YOUR* friendship level to that person, they also have a friendship level towards your character as well. Friendship level goes from 0 to 10, with 0 being total hatred and 10 being great, great friends (rumor says that if the other side is female you can have some lurve). Anyway, back to the issue... *** So being a human, you'll most likely drop a line or two. And while both people are being totally at each other, you can choose to be the guy who tries to stop the argument and have both make lurve to each other. Or you can side with either one. Here is where the game gets kinda complicated... Where this argument in the thread is going is real-life. So if you say something stupid, everybody will laugh at you. In this case, it's better to make a well-thought-out statement about your stance. If you defended SVt then Coltrane will think that you betrayed him, and your friendship level with him will drop by 2 (at most). If you have a DBZ nick and defended Coltrane, then SVt will call your a hypocrite and the level will drop off by 2 (at most). In addition, for both scenarios you will prolong the argument, possible into a flame war (which will have a dramatic drop on your poor karma). Or, you can try to mediate between the two and depending on your wit, you *might* escape unscathed. So whichever you choose, just don't be stupid, because your karma will drop as well, and everybody's friendship level will drop by 1 with you. So choose wisely... So we presume that you sided with ol' Trane and decided to stop the war before it turns the thread into a warzone. The court is in order, and judging by your actions, SVt may get banned because, well, he can be quite dumb at times. Anyway, your fame will definately increase after this little incident. After this one, there's no knowing when a big incident will occur, because even though they are 'scripted' they don't all appear. Some can even appear at the same time (2 at most from what I've seen). These 'side-quests' will be discussed later. Anyway, here's a very quick guide to certain positions or 'social standings...' Positions: Moderator - A fame and karma of 70 should do. A friendship level of 7 for 50% of members as well. However, this doesn't mean that you'll get automatically modded once you reach that level - you might not even get modded if there's no empty space at all. Flames moderator - A fame of 75 and karma of 35 would make you the mod of the flames forum. You also need a friendship level of 3-4 with 50% of the members. This is one of the harder jobs though, because you will be handling a lot of flaming and spamming, as well as bitching. You can just go "oh screw it" and decide to disregard your karma and ban whoever you think is doing more harm than good though... Admin - A fame of 100 and karma of 90 would land you in the job of board admin...unless other than special circumstances like an admin resigned from the board and Yuie182 must have a new admin. Note that admin will have to moderate *every* forum even though there are moderators. You also need to participate more in board politics somehow... Board owner - This can happen, albeit rarely. Yuie182 wouldn't want to lose control of the board, really. De-modded - You perform so badly that you're demodded. Your mod powers are gone, and your karma will take a hard hit. Flames moderator are much easier to de-mod than normal moderators. Banned - A karma of 10 or below and a fame of 70 would definately do. You're banned...unless your character acquired some l33t hacking skillz somehow, it's game over man, game over!!!!!! 'Social Standings': Spammer - Just posting about 20 messages pointless per day would do. Your Karma will drop as fast as your spam though, and spammers cannot be flame mods. Ever. Quite likely to get banned... Lamer - Piss people off by doing useless stuff and not even contributing to the forums. Eventually your friendship level will drop so low with everyone that they will request for you to leave the boards. Very likely to get banned. Loser - Posting nothing but stupid messages will do. Note that everybody will laugh at your pathetic self and hopefully your real life's self esteem will not get affected. Or else I pity you foo! Asshole - Yes, you *can* get an expletive! This is so cool! You want this title? Piss a lot of people off by saying acidic comments and be very sarcastic. Like the stupid idiot you are, belonging to a pile of crud. Fanboy - Talk a lot about something. You'll eventually reach this title of fanboy. I like titles. I think the "Fanboy Asshole" title is the best standing of all time, bar none. And screw you for not agreeing. Foreigner - You type in other languages a lot. This game supports Spanish, French, Portugese, Swedish, American English, Australian English, English English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic and about 1 million African dialects. But you'll be pretty lonely since everybody's typing in English. Friend - Getting a friendship level of 7 for about 70% of the board members will give you a friend social standing. You better be a friendly enough person to give your favorite pr0n collection to somebody you do not trust. Loner - One of the hardest standings to get. You will have to act cold and simply not care much about others, have a friendship level of 4 or 5 for almost everyone, WHILE posting periodically just to show that you're still alive. Forgotten - Just don't post for a very long time while having your fame retain under 60. You'll eventually be forgotten...umm who are you? Rebel - Rebels are quite easy, just keep on going the other way around with the board policy. But you might get banned if you get on the mods' nerve. Flamer - You just run around in the flames forum and flame everyone in sight. You might be regarded as a flamer and that *can* get you banned. Insane - You just don't post anything that makes sense. You laugh like a maniac in posts. I hope that you won't be sent to a mental institution. Elder - You are a respected member of the boards. Just say whatever that sounds right. Or you can complete Scenario #5. Lurker - You rarely post. You...rarely...post. You umm just look around and say nothing. Chatterbox - By talking way too much in a post you'll earn this title of a very nice indeed and worthy but a very long name that's called chatterbox. *delete about 10000 words* Creative - Since you can't draw anything in this game, you can just write long-ass fiction or written works so that others can plagerize it and have it under their name. Remember, everything is free online! Wall - By rejecting others' suggestions or ignoring their arguments and going your own way nonetheless, you'll get this honorary title of a wall. Cement not included. As stated in the fanboy standing, you can have multiple standings at the same time. You can have say "Forgotten Rebel Fanboy." It can look funny though, and there are a lot of combinations, but so far "Loner" and "Friend" do not appear in the same sentence along with "Lurker" with "spammer" and "chatterbox." So you cannot get all the words in a game. Scenarios: The scenarios kinda appear randomly, but some require certain statuses. Scenario #1: New forum Prerequesites: Nil Sometime sooner or later somebody will start suggesting a music forum. Then more ppl will agree on the idea and Yuie182 will very likely put up a poll on whether the forum should be created. It's very likely to be created (if not the chance will pop up again, this scenario is very common). So he needs a permanent mod. If your fame and karma is good enough and your char seems to have some knowledge or whatnot about music, you'll quite likely become the mod of the new Music forum. If not, then your friend Coltrane (if he stays long enough) will become the mod. Or maybe a random member who's interested in music if this happens early. Strategy: Being a music forum mod is basically satisfying the mod requirements (see above) and say that you like music and know something about it. So if you want to be the mod of this forum start posting threads about music and talk about it in depth from day one. Or you can just let Coltrane do his magic and work his way to the mod position. Scenario #2: Chatroom Prerequesites: Flower still being a mod Flower suggests on opening up an IRC chatroom. Yuie182 rejected the idea, saying that a board is enough and there's no need to complicate things with a chatroom. Undaunted, Flower challenged by trying to garner some votes and support from the local populace. It's really 50/50 so you can try swinging some decisions. Note that this *might* split the board (yes, such a small thing can blow up into a board-splitting issue!) and Flower and Yuie182 may part ways. If that's the case, Flower will just resign from the position and leave the board. Strategy: This one appears commonly like the last one as well, and it can happen early on. If you agree on the chatroom issue and it's created you will gain access to the forum chatroom (which doesn't work, btw). If not then depending on the seriousness Flower may resign and there's a few spots left for mods. If you wanna be a bastard and take Flower's position, just say that the chatroom idea is stupid WHILE retaining a good standing in the board. You'll quite likely be the replacement mod, even though for only one forum. Scenario #3: DIED is back! Prerequesites: Nil DIED has reregistered himself as DIED with more Es (like DIEED). Anyway he'll start spamming in the board and flaming others everywhere. If you were a mod you can delete his posts to gain some karma, or just ban him straight up. If you're not then you won't get much out of this scenario. This one can happen for more than once, so you can have multiple opportunities to get DIED banned. Strategy: It's like a freebie Karma give-away. Really, DIED will just run around and spam. Eventually everybody will do a witch hunt and try to kill him off. You can jump on the bandwago and you prolly should, since it'll definately help out on your karma and some friendship level. Scenario #4: Uniquely l33t trouble Prerequesites: Nil Unique_l33t has gotten into some trouble with the board members about hacking their accounts. Yuie182 has been receiving more and more complaints than he can handle, so he decided to have the public judge on Unique_l33t's status. Strategy: You can choose to help out Unique_l33t by saying that he only did what's good to the board and whatnot. Depending on the situation you'll most likely end up on the minority and you'll need to argue a lot to defend Unique_l33t. If you're good, you'll save Unique_l33t and his friendship level with you will skyrocket. If your friendship level with him is 10, he'll start PMing you and teaches you about some hacking stuff. Once you acquired this skill you can return to the board under another nick even if banned, so it's a really useful skill that's worth risking for. Of course, if you poorly defended Unique_l33t he'll get de-modded...and your credibility will take a hit. Scenario #5: Powah_Geezer is...? Prerequesites: Nil Somebody hacked Powah_Geezer's account while he's gone for vacation (and told nobody) ! He is now posting a bunch of gibberish that nobody understands and flaming everybody's ass like nobody's business. Yuie182 has decided to take action and publicly announced that Powah_Geezer has turned into a troll and will ban him, not knowing that the account is under the hacker's control... Strategy: One of the *HARDEST* scenarios. It seems that only a select few knows about the situation (including you) and you can really do nothing about it other than holding on until the real Powah_Geezer comes back from vacation, finds out about the hacker and posts that his account have been hacked. That's really all you can do against a Yuie182 that's all serious and angry. If you successfully held Yuie182's anger the issue should be resolved. If it is, then Powah_Geezer's friendship level with you will skyrocket and you will receive the "Elder" title, quite coveted in the game... Scenario #6: Ultimate Member Battle Prerequesites: Fame and Karma of 50 or higher to be nominated It's a GameFAQs-character-styled tournament to determine who's the coolest member of them all. If you're popular enough you *can* get nominated, but you can't vote for yourself (duh). If you are in the tournament and won it, you can get a cool present from Yuie182... Strategy: This is fun. If your karma and fame are good then you're more likely going further into the tournament. If not then too bad...but that's not all the fun! People can get into flame wars because they are not nominated or lose in the tournament. You know, this is a disaster bound to happen. But if everything goes smoothly, AND you became the sole winner, then you can get a mod position (if you aren't already). But why go through all the trouble when you can just make your fame and karma 70 or higher? Scenario #7: Mr. PC Prerequesites: Coltrane's fame and karma is under 30 Coltrane has gone to the dark side. He's spamming around and started getting a bit too weird lately. Slowly more and more members are against his antics and Yuie182 is considering banning (he is strict, no?). What to do about your best friend? Strategy: It's personal VS official. You can try defending Coltrane, but like the Unique_l33t case, you'll end up in the minority and get jumped on like ol' Trane. Or you can just be impartial and say that he's ruining the boards and recommend that he get banned. If Coltrane isn't banned, his friendship level will go to 0 with you (duh) and he'll oppose your every opinion. So if you're going the ban route, better have him BANNED or else he'll be more trouble than you think. BTW Mr. PC is one of the John Coltrane tunes. Scenario #8: Signet Part 1 Prerequesites: Nil Signet's spamming antics and his overdose of ^____^ and other hyper hyperboles are pissing people off. Yuie182 has officially warned Signet about his antics but he's still doing it nonetheless. People are getting pissed. They want some action done against that idiotic spammer. Strategy: This is like optional, since it won't hurt even if you don't participate. But to get to the next part you need to fulfill this first by being active in getting him banned. It's pretty easy to just jump on the bandwagon and try to kill him off... Scenario #9: Signet Part 2 Prerequesites: Banned Signet DIED has somehow started his attack on the forums right after Signet is banned. He also enlisted Signet's spamming buddies to join in the mess. The board is experiencing some sort of overflow and is not in working order...and it's up to the good guys to kill them off. More soap opera in the strategy section! Strategy: This is another hard one, but very fulfilling. If Supreme_Veggie-tah isn't banned yet, he'll offer a temporary forum for the guys to stay in (if you're good enough you might get invited...all mods are invited into the temp forum). Then Yuie182 will start his counterattack by complaining to DIED and Signet's respective ISPs. If you have the hacker ability then you can try to hack into DIED's account and get more info regarding himself. I don't want to spoil the fun, but anyway DIED is actually Aoyoma (if you don't have the ability then Unique_l33t will find out about DIED)! After all that hoo-hah Aoyoma confessed that she's angry that Flower dumped her and went for another girl instead (Yuie182), and she decided to go under the name of DIED and joined forces with her new bf, Signet to ruin the board and Flower's online life. So she apologized and vowed that she'll never do that again, but it's really up to the members of the temp forum to see if she can stay. You will most likely have some say in this, and if she manages to stay in the board you will get about 10 increase in fame and karma, but otherwise she'll get banned along with Signet. Note that if you're not 'good' enough you won't even participate in this event and have all the fun, and you'll be staring at nothing until the issue is resolved (and Yuie182 will offer an explaination). And if SVt's banned, some other random member will just offer the same thing. Scenario #10: Signet Part 3 Prerequesite: Aoyoma is banned Signet's buddies will just continue spamming to avenge the duo. Just hunting them down one by one will do. Strategy: This is just a basic case of witch hunting. Just...hunt every spammer down. If you are a mod you can ban them. Really simple. Scenario #11: Love is strong in this one Prerequesite: Be a mod of any forum Yuie182's photo is posted by a newbie, and it turns out that Yuie182 is a female! An attactive one at that, and Yuie182 banned that newbie in sight, but anyway the damage is done. Now a whole bunch of guys are after her and trying to hit on her, but then Flower said that she's his gf!!!! OMG this is getting so bizarre... Strategy: There's little to do here, other than just helping Yuie182 and Flower out in stopping the stalkers. Or you can become one and try to harass her (which will definately result in you getting banned). I don't think there's much you can do about it other than just letting the whole thing slide and make it history... Scenario #12: U ARE A FAG Part 1 Prerequesite: Coltrane is not a mod and URAFAG is a mod URAFAG just banned Coltrane, stating that 'Trane is just pissing the hell off him. What to do about it? Strategy: You can just leave it alone, but Coltrane is gone forever from the boards. So if you want Coltrane back, try your hardest to convince URAFAG that his banning is unjust. If he gives in, you'll get to the next part... Scenario #13: U ARE A FAG Part 2 Prerequesite: Coltrane is unbanned Coltrane is unbanned, and pissed. Then he starts flaming URAFAG but the latter's excellent flaming skills just reduced him to ashes (not in the literal sense of course). Coltrane asked for your help. What will you do? Strategy: Coltrane wants your help, and you should be more impartial in this one, but whatever you choose in this scenario ends up with completely different endings. But anyway, if you defended Coltrane and won, his friendship level with you will reach to 10 and URAFAG will commend your flaming skillz somehow. Funny eh? Scenario #14: The tardic legend Prerequesite: Nil DDRFREAKAZIOD just showed his newest 600 hit combo DDR vid. General response is positive, but somehow this anti-DDR guy just jumps in and flames DDRFREAKAZIOD's ass. The latter came up with lame-ass replies which plunged him into the deep end of trouble, and eventually he might just give up on the board and ran away... Strategy: You can just go into asshole mode and ban the flamer, but this won't help solve the situation much as another flamer will magically appear and flame DDRFREAKAZIOD's sorry butt. It somehow appears that by flaming the flamer will turn the situation around though. So you might as well try doing that, and DDRFREAKAZIOD's friendship level with you will go up to 10 regardless of what it was before, and he'll stay in the forums. Scenario #15: Hostile Takeover Part 1 Prerequesite: Nil One day, suddenly a bunch of clan people (Quake clans like [SST]Einstein and so on) registered in the board, naming themselves [AQ]XXX (where XXX is their respective nicks). They were looking for a forum to stay, and despite some objections, Yuie182 has allowed them to set up their own private forum for clan talk. All seems fine until some board members start complaining that the clan members are starting to threaten that their accounts will be hacked if they don't leave the board immediately. Yuie182 doesn't seem to buy this and allowed the clan to stay... Strategy: Your character will also receive the same PM from the clan members about something like "join us or leave us, else you get hacked" kinda stuff. You *can* complain to Unique_l33t and/or Yuie182 (both are admins, remember?), but the latter will very likely reject your complaint. You can leave the board, but why would you want to do that when the drama is starting to unfold? Just file the complaint to Unique_l33t so that the second part will be unlocked. If you're a mod you can prove to Unique_l33t that Yuie182's IP addy is a bit different... Scenario #16: Hostile Takeover Part 2 Prerequesite: Enough ppl filed a complaint about the clan members to Unique_l33t After receiving enough compliants about the clan members threatening the board's residents, Unique_l33t decided to look into the matter itself. The first thing he noticed is that Yuie182's IP addy is different from the one he (or if you have completed Scenario #11 then it's a she) usually has, and traced the IP addy...finding out that the IP addy is shared by other clan members. This either means that Yuie182's account was hacked, or he (she) recently moved to the area where the clan members live and talked with them. Anyhow, Unique_l33t asked publicly to Yuie182 on a few personal questions just to verify if the latter's account is hacked... Strategy: You can't do anything other than watch. If you are a mod then you can try banning the clan members, but they will be unbanned the next day. Anyhow, just watch as the plot unfold. Scenario #17: Hostile Takeover Part 3 Prerequesite: Unique_l33t asking Yuie182 a personal question and waiting for his/her answer Things start getting interesting as Yuie182 answered the question wrong and Unique_l33t pointed out publicly that this Yuie182 account has been hacked, most likely by one of the AQ clan members. The AQ clan members all jumped on Unique_l33t and said that he's defaming Yuie182 without any evidences. They then went on to ask Yuie182 to ban Unique_l33t. Yuie182 did so, and Unique_l33t is gone from the board. Yuie182 then changed his nick to [AQ]Yuie182 and demodded all the original mods, installed his clan members as replacement, and saying that this new board now belongs to the terrorist group Al Questa (whatever it means I have no idea). The 'new' Yuie182 also turned off the PM feature so that nobody can rebel against them by communicating thru PMs. More and more members are starting to leave the board... Strategy: So now, if you're a mod, you lost your mod powers. Naturally, you will rebel against the new regime along with other members who are apparently still there. But without the power of PMs, you are basically on the defensive as more people are quitting. It's best that you keep yourself silent for the time being since they are running a very very strict regime of sorts and you don't want to get into trouble with them yet. No matter how patriotic you are. Scenario #18: Hostile Takeover Part 4 Prerequesite: The new Yuie182 taking over the boards A few members started asking where the real Yuie182 went. The AQ people just answered that he/she's now on a *very* long vacation and won't come back forever. More members threaten to leave the board, until the AQ clan members posted a thread with the members' home address (thru tracing by e-mail) and said that if any member try to leave the board again, the group will bomb that city first. They also demanded everybody to give their e-mail addresses and passwords. All hope seems lost as the AQ clan runs a totalitarian regime... ...and Unique_l33t saves the day! Well not yet, he needs to hack to an account to capture some screenies as evidences. And he chose yours to hack to. Geez... Strategy: This thing takes on for a whole week, and Unique_l33t hacking into your account will be like 5 days into that week. So just be a patient man and let Unique_l33t work his magic... Scenario #19: Hostile Takeover Part 5 Prerequesite: Unique_l33t has taken screencaps of AQ's threats Apparently after taking the screencaps the AQ guys found about about Unique_l33t hacking your account, so they banned you. Too late, but just let Unique_l33t work out his magic. A few days later the CIA has locked up the whole site. Apparently the AQ terrorist group is not a terrorist group but a bunch of young jerks who happens to accidentally bumped into Yuie182's account password. Order is restored and everything is slowly getting back to normal. The real Yuie182 also appeared a day after order is restored and told the board that he can't seem to log into the net since somebody else is using his dialup connection since the fake Yuie182 appeared. It seems that they also got his dialup account as well. Anyhow, everything is restored and if you were a mod back then, your position will be restored... Strategy: You were banned, so you couldn't do anything about it other than wait until the drama is over. You can start accessing the boards when the CIA has locked up the whole site. So what about the young jerks? They were all sentenced to 10 years worth of jail. Yay! Scenario #20: STOP TEH GHEY! Prerequesite: You are not a mod A new member has joined the board, and he said that he's openly gay and is looking for a 'mate' from the message board. Regardless if you react to him or not, he'll find you attractive for whatever reason and will start umm... doing stuff to you by bothering you thru PM. What to do? Strategy: If you were a mod this would be easy, you can just ban him and everything will be over easy. But nooo, you aren't a mod, and during this incident you won't be modded. So you might as well put this guy in your ignore list, then complain to one of the admins. Remember to be patient because he's really aggressive in persuing you for whatever reason. You can flame him publicly and publish his PMs to other people, and hope that he'll leave the board in light of this. This is the more extreme way, but it'll also work. Not very hard eh? Scenario #21: Signet's Great Banning Adventure Prerequesite: You are a mod/admin and Signet's not banned Signet starts spamming in your forums along with his 'spamming cronies.' Apparently he posts a lot of stupid comments and irrevelant stuff that everybody thinks is offtopic. People are starting to flame him. Things are slowly getting out of control in your forum... Strategy: Issue a warning (a public or private one, whichever you like) to Signet stating that if he spams again, he'll be banned. This will help in cooling down the heat and Signet might (emphasis on might) stop his spam and retarded comments for a day or two, but go back to his old ways again. Then you can ban him without trouble. Or you can just straight up ban him and just not care about your drop in credibility for whatever reason. Scenario #22: Where's my retirement funds? Prerequesite: Yuie182 is board owner, you are an admin Yuie182 believes that his/her board is going well and he/she doesn't have much interest in running the board anymore, so he/she's gonna sell the board ownership to one of the interested members instead. Will you be the next board owner? Strategy: This is a really rare event since it's *really* quite rare that you'll be an admin. And this occurs quite rarely as well, so it's like double rare (or whatever that means). If Yuie182's real gender is exposed then this incident will have a higher chance of happening. If your friendship level to Yuie182 is high enough, you will most likely own the board in place of Yuie182, and have access to all sorts of cool stuff like deleting the whole board. Note that upon giving you the board, you'll have to pay the server 9 bucks/month, so you'll have to dish out your CC#. Or debit card. Else the board will only last a month and it's game over. Scenario #23: Aoyoma's aroma (whatever that means, I have zero idea) Prerequesite: Aoyoma is not banned Aoyoma has announced that she's looking for a husband since she's 23 years old (!!!). So a whole bunch of people started lining up and submitting their umm...resume. So what's up with all this? Strategy: You can just make up your 'resume' and show it off to her so that she'll choose you for whatever reason. If you're engaged then you get to meet Aoyoma IRL! This is so cool! Otherwise, you can just ignore this stupid wedding thing and get on with your life. Scenario #24: Flower VS Unique_l33t Prerequesite: Love is strong in this one is completed Since Yuie182 is female and is Flower's gf, and her picture is shown online (albeit for a very short time), there have been a few stalkers. Since Flower is powerless outside his own forum, Unique_l33t has been clearing and banning those stalkers for Yuie182. While everything's going on well, Yuie182 suddenly dumps Flower for Unique_l33t. Then Flower starts saying that Yuie182 owes him about $10000 in emotional damage and yadda yadda, so Unique_l33t fights back. Things are not going good... Strategy: Wow a dramatic turn! Anyway, you can't really do anything about it other than mediate between the two. Flower will probably back down from his initial demands and probably leave the board for good. Poor Flower...so his spot is up for grabs. Or if you side with Flower then Yuie182 will have to ask both guys to stop arguing and make peace with each other. Both will stay, but not in good terms anymore. So eventually one of them will leave the board as a consequence. However, this scenario is pretty rare. Scenario #25: Flaming Tournament...? Prerequesite: URAFAG is mod URAFAG has sent invitations to all the best flamers known in the board into "The King of Flamers *insert current year here*" tournament. It's a one-on- one flame tournament where one will flame his way into "The King of Flamers" and get to flame against URAFAG as an extra match. Yeah this sounds weird and sorta lame, but URAFAG said that he wants to have this for his own amusement. Whatever... Strategy: If you have the 'flamer' title or is known to be an ass or whatever, you'll probably be invited. Anyway, if you're invited you'll be in a draw to determine who your flaming opponent is. URAFAG then decides the topic for you both to flame at, and you and your opponent will flame each other for a day. URAFAG will then start a poll asking who's the better flamer the next day. So if you won the tournament, you'll get to flame against URAFAG, and he'll probably destroy you like everyone else. If you still manage to win, URAFAG will retire and give you his mod position! If you aren't invited, you can enter the uninviteded tournament and try to flame your way into the main tournament. Or you can just watch and see some good flaming action. Scenario #26: Dunce Dunce Revolution Prerequesites: DDRFREAKAZIOD is the only Creative mod DDRFREAKAZIOD has broken his leg while playing DDR (don't ask...it involved a squirrel) and couldn't play for at least half a year. So he said that he needs some soul-searching involving nachos and lots of cheese, with soft drink (and pr0n) preferred. Thusly, DDRFREAKAZIOD left the board with no set return date. And after a week, a lot of junk has appeared in Creative and Yuie182 has to elect a new mod in order to 'help' DDRFREAKAZIOD to mod the Creative forum. Strategy: If you have the 'Creative' title and has the prerequesite for being a mod, then you'll become one. Really simple ne? The prerequesite for being a Creative mod in this scenario is more lax since it's more of an emergency, so you can probably become the mod since there's no better candidate. Scenario #27: Teh Gr8 BoardFic Contest Prerequesites: DDRFREAKAZIOD and Flower are mods DDRFREAKAZIOD and Flower are both promoting a 'BoardFic' contest! The winner will get...nothing but the great title of "Best BoardFic Writer." They have also set a few rules regarding the contest as well. Strategy: If you feel like it, you can type a whole bunch of funny BS and make it sound like a story. Since everybody else has poor 'creative skillz' you'll most likely become the winner regardless if your fic is crappy or not. They'll all vote for you anyway. Scenario #28: The Server Is Dead, Long Live The Server Prerequesites: The board is dying Just when the mod team is trying to liven a few things up from the half-dead board, suddenly the server dies for no reason at all. Yuie182 has decided to ask the server provider what the heck is going on, but they actually gone kaput. So... Strategy: Game Over. Endings: If you manage to stay in the board for one year, you will get an ending... Depending on the title you have and the Karma+Fame you have, you'll have different endings. Board Admin & board is well alive: You just continue to hold the board and it prospered, eventually being featured in Time Magazine. Umm...yeah. Mod: You just do your own job and enjoying every minute of it. Mod with lower than 50 Karma (except for flame mods): You are dismissed from your mod position since you have been pissing some peeps off. Flame mod: You continue to be an asshole, everybody hates you but like your style at the same time. So you get to stay! Active member (no mod/admin): You continue to contribute to the board and try your best to make the board better. Active member with lower than 50 Karma: You eventually get more enemies, and one day a lot of members jump on you. And you got banned. 'Lamer' status: You always try to join the boards and do stupid stuff, but eventually they banned you every time you start up a new account. 'Flamer' status with higher than 70 karma: You flame whoever that you 'think' is doing the wrong thing. It may be extreme, but at least you're getting the message across. 'Flamer' status with lower than 40 karma: You just flame a bit too much, so much that people are complaining and is more than willing to see you go. So the mods banned you. 'Spammer' status: Slowly you will piss more people off, but they never asked to ban you for whatever reason. So your reign of spam terror is still alive. 'Lurker' status: You eventually fade out from existance and nobody knows who or where you are anymore (internet-wise). You never even posted: You get a Clean Sheet award for never posting a message. The award will be mailed to your home address. --- 6. BORING-ASS SECRETS Yes! It's a boring ass secrets section so that you can show off to your friends and family. Here they are, you worthless cheater! Unlock GameFAQs boards: Beat the game once. GameFAQs board is pretty hectic since there's a lot of one-sided fanboys that will jump on you like hungry wolves once you say something bad about their favorite games. Can you survive in the boards and not being insane at the same time? Unlock Raging Cajun boards: Beat the game twice. Unlike its name, Raging Cajun is *the* smallest board in the game and is a very quiet board. Will you be able to enliven the board or just lurk around like 90% of the populace in the board? Or will you just quit halfway? Unlock The World of Ghey boards: Beat any of the hidden boards once. This board is...GHEY! It is a total mess the moment you enter and there is no voice of sanity in there, plus the fact that you'll probably go nuts after a day. Can you even freaking survive (mentally that is)? Unlock Inflammatory Rhetoric boards: Beat two hidden boards. It's like The World of Ghey, but everybody just flames each other instead. Some are intelligent flames - and most aren't. Can you even make sense out of this one? Can you NOT get your ass flamed? (no) Unlock Shaq Fu boards: Beat three hidden boards. You have recently entered a very large forum with lots of people in it. Yep, this is one of the biggest forums to be presented in the game! But wait! This forum is about Shaq Fu...and unless you played that game before, you're pretty much restricted to the non-gaming forums. The people there are pretty friendly though...but can you tempt not to flame the members about Shaq Fu? There's also the problem of the Shaq Fu haters as well. After 6 months the forum suddenly vanished into thin air. Where is it... Unlock Zero Wing boards: Beat the Shaq Fu boards. Apparently the Shaq Fu boards experienced visitor overload, so they teamed up with...the Zero Wing boards! Now you can say something like "HOW ARE YOU DAVID STERN!" and "ALL YOUR NBA TROPHIES ARE BELONG TO SHAQ!" and random crossover crud like that. At least Zero Wing isn't as bad as Shaq Fu, but I digress. This board is a mish-mash of both cultures, and they aren't doing very well in the agreement department on which is the best game: Shaq Fu (SF) or Zero Wing (ZW) (the choice is obvious, no?). This board is about as large as the Shaq Fu boards and has like five times the conflict. In addition, the SF AND ZW haters and lamers also joins in the fun too. In due course, you will have to side with either SF or ZW, or just choose to be neutral (this is HARD to do). After two months the ZW board will leave in disguist and the SF members (yes, you read me, ZW fans abandoned their board) take over. So much for Shaq making an appearance in Zero Wing 2: SHAQS' Revenge... Unlock Neo-Zero Wing boards: Beat the ZW forums after siding with ZW Right...this is a completely new board and everybody's settling down and slowly going back to worshipping CATS and his polite manners. Anyway, this new forum is basically like the old one, so if you're used to the old ZW forums you should feel right at home. Your fame and karma will also be brought over to the new boards as well. The bad thing is that the SF lamers, ZW and CATS haters will harass the board repeatedly, and might scare off promising newbies. This board goes on infinitely and has no ending date. Unlock Uber Shaq Fu boards: Beat the ZW forums after siding with SF This is the Shaq Fu boards using the old ZW skeleton. However this one gives you a better chance of being a mod though. The fame and karma from your last experience will also be brought over. Like the Neo-Zero Wing boards, you continue your Shaq Fu worshipping ways and the ZW lamers, SF, Shaq AND Lakers haters will harass the board to no end. Why did I say no end? It's because this one also goes infinitely and has no ending date as well. Unlock Shaq Wing Zero Fu forums: Beat the ZW forums after being neutral Somehow you being neutral made everybody else neutral. So, you get this spunky new board that has everybody making up with each other and in peace and forever love and respect. There will be no wars. Peace and flowers everywhere. Feel the love in the air. The fame and karma from the old ZW boards is also brought over, but soon you'll get sick and leave. If you don't, I dunno why but I think you might need to see a doctor. SELF REVIEW - GAMEFAQS STYLE Title: OMG The Most Promising Game Evah, But Sucks Score: 3/10 Reviewer: Kenshin_Battousai I came across this game prompty titled "Message Boards" that's being sold in my ass. It says that the game is a real-life simulation on the box. It's also for the PC. Everything's up to perfection by far, and so I bought it in hopes of it being another cool expansion for The Sims. But it's a stand alone game about message boards. I don't know, maybe this expansion pack for The Sims can also be a standalone as well. Upon breathing at Will Wright's genius creation, I immediately installed the game and started playing. But the game installation disc...s is like 20 floppies. And 5'25 inch ones. So I believe that this is Mr. Wright's ingenious idea of going retro - everybody likes retro, no? So I bought a 5'25 inch floppy drive and somehow installed it into the computer. And it started installing. I was sweating in hopes that none of the floppies are corrupted. Thank God that they weren't, and I immendiately knelt down to the ground and thanked God unlike those heathens who don't pray to God once they said "thank God." And don't ask why I can find the game in my ass. It just happens to be in there. Upon playing the game, I realised that it's very realistic - the members seem real including the staple few, and there's infinite replayability since the cast is randomly generated (along with their personalities) except for the core group. In my first run I named my main character "Kenshin_Battousai" because my favorite anime is Kenshin and I think it is the greatest thing since sliced bread. And once I posted an intro message, a few members started greeting me. Some even asked if I am a Kenshin fan. I cried in tears. This is pure happiness. I have joined a message board that's online by installing thru 20 5'25 floppies! But then the first incident happened. My char's friend Coltrane started arguing with this DBZ fan named Supreme_Veggie-tah. I don't even know who the hell Coltrane is, and started flaming both of them because none of my friends use the name Coltrane and I hate DBZ since Rurouni Kenshin is the best anime...no, best TV show to ever appear on Earth. And I got flamed by BOTH Coltrane and SVt. The former said I betrayed him. The latter just flamed me because I was not agreeing with him or something. So it turned into a three-way flame war. And after a few days the mod, Unique_l33t, just closed down the thread and banned all three of us. WTF? Where's my first amendment rights? This game sucks ass! And then it gets even suckier every time I started a new game. I couldn't get past the DBZ argument thread. Slowly I believe that DBZ sucks ass and started using more vulgar words to bite SVt's ass. But I found a new friend in Coltrane. But woohoo, I got banned every time I started flaming that idiot. Then thru extreme hate, I decided to have a new game with my nick as "DBZSUCKS." SVt's the first guy to greet and flame me at the same time. Then we got into an argument in the Introductions forum. Currently I'm still trying to get past the DBZ argument section. I'm sure I can get out of this by flaming SVt's ignorant ass, but so far it's not working very well. But man, this game sucks ass! The graphics are 2D, but I can't complain since my 3D card got burnt by leaving the computer on for 20 weeks in a row. Anyhow, there's no music in the game, but you can import your own mp3s though. I play the Kenshin anime's background music so that I can feel 'stronger' against SVt. Past that, you can't even have a custom avatar like other online message boards. This game sucks ass because you can't have a freaking custom avatar. There's not even hidden goodies in the game! WTFH I don't want to be stuck in the same board over and over again! This game sucks ass! So there, here's my impartial review. Unbiased of course, and I believe that even though this game sucks, it has the potential to be good. DDRFREAKAZIOD - I'm not a fan of DDR myself, but I've read at sites about DDR freaks who are just all-DDR-all-day. Hey, kinda like me with Initial D! Other than this, it's inspired by Evil Shingo. Coltrane - I just decided to put this as a tribute to Jazz for whatever reason. I like Jazz...and Coltrane's name happens to be famous and special enough for me to use it. I'm not a big 'Trane fan though. The Big Finish! I'm not done yet, but this is the basic IAQ itself. There is still some polishing to do... Anyway, it's a parody of real-life BBS. I'm not saying that I'm hating online BBS for whatever reason, I like the chance to interact and make friends with people online. Sometimes there can be board politics and it might ruin the fun, and flames as well, but overall I like talking on the BBS.
