Backstory: A child prodigy who is already attending high school at
the age of ten, Ulysses hates being number two. So much, this
hot-headed attitude of his jeopardizes his jump start in school. A
counseler suggested that he joined the track team in order to
alleviate his feelings of aggression. Unfortunately, it did nothing
to slow down his desire to be number one. On the other hand, Metro
High had never seen such competitive spirit, and thus kept him in the
ranks of the track team. He wants to be a doctor when he grows up.
School: Metro High

Stats:
Ulysses works a bit differently here. His stats vary by how close
he is to the lead. When he's in the lead, he's generally content and
doesn't quite push himself as hard as he does when he's not. When
he's in last place, watch out; he gets really angry and becomes an
all-around nightmare. Well, at least until he's out of last place.

First Last Otherwise (what he's like most of the time)

Special moves:

Special move #1
Move name: Pebble Toss
What it does: Ulysses throws a rock he picked up off the ground.
Damage: *, *** if in last place
Speed: *****
Range: Middle (**), Long (***) if in last place
Notes/Strategy:
It's a typical projectile. In most cases it's tame; it aims at
the nearest opponent, it's fast, and does little damage. It goes
so quickly that Ulysses can actually rapid-fire it to an extent
(watch your stamina). It goes up to about half-screen range. Now,
if Ulysses is in last place, it all changes. It goes much further
(full-screen), the damage is cranked up to a respectable amount...
and he can still rapid-fire it. On top of that, it'll knock down
upon connection. Fortunately both versions are blockable, but this
can be pretty crazy if everyone's mobbed together. This makes for a
decent combo ender too.

Special move #2
Move name: Hitchhiker
What it does: Ulysses tries to grab onto an opponent. If he
succeeds, he'll take a piggyback ride on them for a while, or until
the opponent shakes him off.
Effect: ****
Speed: **
Duration: ****
Range: Short (*)
Notes/Strategy:
Tired? Afraid that Ulysses won't be able to catch up to whoever's
behind him in the lead (as he'll lose it often)? This is your move!
Very tiny startup aside, this allows Ulysses to hitchhike a ride on
the opponent's shoulders for a while. The larger and stronger they
are, the lesser the speed penalty. Against a short character whose
build is rated as "bones" and has one star in strength, they move at
a speed comparable to if they ran out of stamina. On the other hand,
a tall character whose build is rated as "overweight" with five
stars in strength won't feel anything at all and thus can continue
running at normal speed. Ulysses can also regain stamina as if he
were standing still as well, but be wary of being shaken off; the
opponent can knock Ulysses off my rapidly tapping the attack button,
where Ulysses can stay on them by doing the same. Most of the time,
Ulysses can stay on the opponent's back for about six or so seconds.
When knocked off, Ulysses recovers instantly and can proceed to try
and sprint right past the opponent. In the case the opponent crosses
the finish line with Ulysses on their back, Ulysses will be placed
below the opponent in rank (IE: if the opponent he was riding came
in third place, he'd get fourth). One last note, this is obviously
unblockable and can't be used in combos.

Special move #3
Move name: Front Tumble
What it does: Ulysses simply tumbles forward. That's it.
Effect: **
Speed: * to ***** (matches Ulysses' current speed stat)
Duration: **
Range: Medium (**)
Notes/Strategy:
This basically lets Ulysses block against attacks without having
to stop first. In addition, this allows him to roll underneath all
tall and medium height players without causing a collision. He can't
be grabbed while doing this either, and has very little in the way
of startup and recovery. All-in-all, a pretty handy tool for Ulysses
to have. Ulysses rolls at the same speed as his normal running
speed at the moment. (IE, if he rolled up from behind the current
leader, he'll still roll at a four-star running speed until he stops
rolling). This goes up to half-screen range.

--
Character strategy: Ulysses is a different breed of character than
most. As seen in his stats, his performance varies by what place
he's in. He gets rather complacent when he's currently in the lead,
making it extremely difficult for him to maintain it. To
counteract this weakness, he has a couple of handy special moves and
a decent amount of speed backing him up. If in the case he's in last
place, it's very easy for him to take the lead if the group is
close to one another; hit "sprint" and hold it. He'll hold his speed
until you let go, often bringing himself into the lead. Due to this
and how you'll probably be using his Hitchhiker and Front Tumble
move a lot, Ulysses will likely be very low on stamina for the
entire race. It's of utmost importance that you hitchhike as much
as possible as Ulysses so that you can regain some stamina while
still moving forward. Chances are the majority of Ulysses'
victories, if any, will be photo finishes. Try to keep the race
close enough so that you can sweep in and take the victory at the
end.

Introduction dialogue:
*Ulysses runs up to you in a huff.*
Ulysses: You can't be that racer! Are you? Are you?!
*Yes, this ten year old kid is talkin' to you like he means business.
Twerp.*
Ulysses: Nobody's faster than me! C'mon, race me! Chicken! I'll leave
you in the dust like all the other losers! I'm the best there is!
*A dialog box pops up asking you if you accept his challenge or not*

Yes, I accept your challenge:
Ulysses: YEEEEAAAAAHHH!! Gonna beat you, gonna beat you, gonna beat
you GOOD!
*Ulysses starts dancing around and pointing at you while making weird
sounds he probably picked up from his older siblings' friends,
assuming he even had one.*
*start race*

No, I don't accept your challenge:
Ulysses: CHICKEN!! You're afraid of a kid like me? You must suck! Ha
ha ha ha! I'm gonna tell all my friends about you!
*A huge bulging vein appears on the screen. Your character is angry.*
Ulysses: Uh-oh... um, bye.
*Ulysses runs away in a flash.*
*goes back to opponent selection screen*

You win the race:
*Nothing is really said. Ulysses just cries and throws a temper
tantrum, being the poor sport that he is. A few adults from his school
come to help him off the field and console him.*
*screen shows you beat that stage*

You lose the race:
*He's happy. Let's leave it at that.*
Ulysses: I TOLD you so!! Oh, are you going to cry? Ha ha ha. Cryyyyy!
Cryyyy!! I'm the best there is! Don't you forget it! A kid beat you,
and that's sad!
*goes to point calculation screen*
