Stage Sheet
--
School name: Very High

Description:
After leaving the initial stage where you are inside the school's
racetrack, you'll enter an area with concrete road with some trees in the
background (like a park, there's also some benches in the background). In
here, you can find some street thugs gathering together, looking for
trouble. And since you're running, they'll pick on you for no reason at
all! These guys won't pose much of a problem, since there's only a few of
them. Just don't let them all hoard on you. This section only occupies
one screen, as a warmup of sorts. You won't find any weapons in here as
well.
Continuing on to the next section, you'll find yourself at the end of the
paved concrete road, which intersects with a road that's used by cars
instead. There's constant traffic here, so be cafeful not to get hit! If
you get hit your character will receive some damage, not to mention being
knocked back to the pavement magically for no apparent reason. There's a
traffic light on the pavement (where the original road ends), and the
cars will stop when the light is red, giving you some time to cross the
road without much problems. Once you crossed the road, you can find
yourself...on the other side of the road. =P Okay, joking aside, there's
the entrance to the airport. There's a few security guards over there,
and if you don't hit them or run directly into them, they won't bother
you at all. Or, you can just try attacking them and see if you can grab
their Mag-Lites. These Mag-Lites might prove useful early in the race.
Enter the airport through the...entrance.
Once inside the airport, the first thing you'll notice is queues. There's
a lot of queues in the stage, and it's like getting around a maze of some
sort. Moreso, a gauge of some sort appeares below your lifebar. What is
that? It's the "Chaos meter!" The chaos meter will raise if you cause
any type of unrest, such as knocking the people in queues or throwing
stuff around. If the chaos meter goes full, the security guards would
try to clamp you down and kick you away from the airport. If you're
caught (by being knocked to the ground first), you'll have to start right
outside the airport again. So be careful! Anyhow, you'll find yourself in
the check-in counters section, even though there's a lobby area that's
quite long, preceding the check-in area. In the check-in counter section,
you can find an elevator at the top, and a security check section in the
bottom. The middle is the check-in counters, where a conveyor belt is
located behind these counters. There's a few things you can play with
here - A few over-the-counter fast food stores (in the lobby area) are in
the background, and if you walk up to them there's a random chance that
you'll get an item. So, definately check out this one first. Aside from
that, there's three routes to go past the check-in area. In this area,
you might be able to find a Mime (any one of the three) walking around.
And of course, there's the usual security guard. You don't need to worry
about them, they are passive unless you provoke them, or your chaos meter
goes full.
Route 1: Go through the security check in the bottom area. Yes, you have
to queue but you'll have the safest way, and you won't be alerting the
security guards as well. Just don't bring in any weapons to the metal
detector, or else it'll delay you, and you'll have to unequip the weapon
and try again, which will tick away some of your time in addition to
raising your Chaos meter quite a bit. You can repeat this until the Chaos
meter is full, where the security guards surrounding the security check
will chase after you. Once you defeat them though, the security check
will be rendered useless and you can freely walk in or out without regard
to having a weapon or not. Anyhow, once you crossed the security check
you'll be in the second section of the map.
Route 2: Going up the elevator. This is the fastest way, but also the
sure-fire way to crank up your chaos meter by A LOT. So you ride the
escalator, and go upstairs onto a platformish thingy, overlooking the
post-security section. You'll find more stores in the background (some
you can get food from), and at the end of this little platform thingy
there's a glass wall. Attack the glass wall, and you'll eventually break
it after a good number of hits (approx 2 combos will do for most
characters). Jump down, and da-da~! You're in the second section of the
map! Security guards are going to run at you from nowhere regardless of
your chaos meter, it's just the matter of number (higher meter = more
security guards running at you). If the glass wall is broken, then
simply jumping off will raise your chaos meter by a bit, but security
guards will still run at you nonetheless.
Route 3: Route 3 is the riskiest, and the hardest. But it's quite
rewarding as well, since you won't be doing a lot of fighting and you
don't need to fight for the boarding passes. Anyhow, to reach this route
you'll need to jump ONTO the conveyor belts behind the counters. These
conveyor belts have some luggage on them, and if you landed on one you
will fall back, resulting in the security guards jumping at you and
flinging you out of the airport. Jumping on the conveyor belt also means
that you'll need to break up the queue on the counter, and jump over the
counter. This will raise your chaos meter considerably, so watch out.
Anyhow, once you successfully land on the conveyor belt, you'll enter a
tunnel of sorts. This will be the branch to another section (which I'll
call Alternate).
So, if you travelled by route 1 or 2, you'll enter the second section of
this map, which is a concourse with boarding areas in the background.
There's a few enemies here, including the usual security guard, a random
mime or two, and the Senile Old Woman. There's also the occasional
Stewardess walking around the section as well. Anyway, in here you can
also find some weapons and items lying around on the ground, but it
appears randomly though. Walk forward, and you'll enter a boarding area
full of people. Then somebody drops a piece of paper. That's the boarding
pass to the flight! Grab it as fast as you can, since there's only 4 of
these, and there's 10 guys racing (even though not all of the 10 runners
will be in here). This also means that you'll be fighting over 4 tickets
if you don't get it soon enough. If you hold a ticket, the other runners
without a ticket will try to get to you - if you're knocked down, you'll
lose the ticket and it'll fall to the ground, up for grabs again. Great
chaotic fun, since the chaos meter for all 'volunteers' will raise as
well (and attract security guards...lots of security guards if this gets
way too chaotic). After some ruckus, it's time to board the gate, and the
ones with the boarding pass will enter the gate first. Well what about
the rest? A timer will appear on the top, and about 8 security guards
will start hoarding by the gate, not letting you to pass. Here's the rule:
You must enter the gate within 1 minute, or else you'll be disqualified
and lose the stage automatically. So in this one minute, you and your
opponents will have to fight cooperately to get into the gate.
Once you get into the gate, you'll be walking down a short walkway, and
eventually enter the plane. You can fool around with each other here,
especially over the order for entering the flight.
Inside the plane, you can look for a seat. The whole plane is pretty
long, and you're basically walking on an aisle with 3 seats on both sides,
and many many rows. There are some empty seats for you to sit on, which
you should since the plane is taking off at any minute. Like the tickets,
you can fight for a seat - you'll have to throw them out of their seat
though, instead of executing a combo on him/her. In the flight, there's a
total of 6 seats to occupy. So what's going to happen if you cannot find
an empty seat? Well then too bad for you, you're gonna stand while the
plane takes off! Once everybody's in the plane, it'll start moving after
a short while (so the fighting will settle down). And then you can feel
it shaking for a bit, and it'll take off! the plane will be tilted (with
the nose of the plane facing upwards of course =P), and for the guys who
can't find a seat yet, this is bad news. They'll have to run (not walk,
run) towards the nose or else they'll slowly slip backwards. This means a
great consumption of stamina, and can be a big disadvantage for those who
have a low rating in that category. But the main reason for running
upwards is to avoid being the last guy to exit the plane, since you can't
move while the plane is still on the runway. Anyhow, after a while the
plane finally settles (in mid-air) and you're free to walk around. The
Stewardess appears, while the Senile Old Woman also makes a comeback
appearance. Both are aggressive in this map, so beware! Also, the
passengers (not any of the runners) will throw out random items or weapons
from their seats due to poor service from the airline. A slugfest begins!
But after about 1 minute or so, the plane has to land (talk about having
really short flights), thanks to the PA system. You and your opponents
will have to get back to their seats! The landing part is same as the
taking off part, where there's only 6 avaliable seats. Also, when the
plane is landing it'll be tilted as well. So if you're stuck in the aisle
for both times, well bad for you! Once the plane lands, it'll run for a
while but you'll be able to get off the plane afterwards.
Now you think you're walking into a mirror image of Very High's airport.
You're almost correct, since you're now running from the right to the
left, and the gate area is the same! Walk forward (in this instance we
mean from the right to the left), and after some time you'll find the
escalator. Go down the escalator, and you'll enter the final parts of
this stage. In this section, you'll be able to find a few weapons and
items lying around randomly in the stage, as well as security guards
and the Senile Old Woman. Fortunately, the Senile Old Woman is the only
real hostile enemy.
-
ALTERNATE ROUTE: Once you've entered the conveyor belt's tunnel, you'll
find yourself being transported down a slide of sorts. First things first,
and you'll have to take a watch of the luggage falling from above! Those
do hurt quite a bit. Anyway, once you reach the bottom of the slide you
will automatically get off, and some security guards may approach you.
Just start running, and jump over the luggages lying randomly around the
floor. Note that they can't be used as a weapon or just taken away for
whatever reason, so keep watch. Also, if you're caught by a security
guard, you'll be transported immediately back to the entrance of the
airport. Anyhow, continue your journey in the 'warehouse-ish area without
very good lighting' and you'll eventually reach the exit.
You'll now be in the cargo loading area for the flight. At the end of
this area there's a conveyor belt which leads to the flight's cargo
storage. Jump onto the conveyor belt, and you'll be automatically
transported into the next scene - the cargo storage.
"Things may shift during flight" applies here. Oh yes it does, since
during take-off and landing the cargo (whether they are luggage or just
crates) will start moving backwards. If you're hit by them, expect some
heavy damage. The damage will also compound if there's one cargo
following another, giving you extra weight to bear with. You can jump over
them - in fact that's the only thing you can do, since these heavy stuff
causes guard break. However, once the flight stablizes itself, you can
walk around and beat another runner up if you're not alone.
After the plane lands, you'll be automatically taken away from the cargo
storage and down into the airport's parking area for the flight. Like
the destination airport, you're running the other way around, i.e. right
to left. Exit this scene, and you'll enter the 'warehouse area' with
loads of luggage on the ground.
In this area, the security guards are back again! Like the previous
airport, you'll have to jump over luggages and eventually reach the end
of the area, which is an upward slope. Run up (run, not walk) the slope,
and you'll enter the baggage claim area, jumping from the background into
the foreground.
-
Now you're exiting the escalator (or the baggage claim conveyor belt),
walk forward and you'll be in the baggage claim area, where the baggage
claim conveyor belts are located in the background. Note that, these
conveyor belts are pretty creepy, since they'll randomly toss out a piece
of large luggage at the stage and it's almost impossible to evade it once
it's about to hit you. Aside from that, the BS:FM fanatics also sports
their first appearance into the stage, making this section even more
hectic than before. After a while, you'll get to exit the area.
Once you've exited, you'll run forward a bit more - but watch out for the
road intersecting your path! Like the first sections, these cars won't
stop for you unless it's red light for them. So be careful - you'll also
get knocked back if you get hit by these cars as well.
Once you've crossed the road, you'll find the finish line after running
for a short distance. Yeah, there's three street thugs walking around but
they won't pose a big difference to your ultimate goal of passing the
finish line.

Enemies found: Street thug, Security Guard, Mime A/B/C, Senile Old Woman,
Stewardess, BS:FM fanatics
Weapons found: Beer bottle, Sexy Commando Magazine, Professional
Assistance, Garbage Can Lid, Pillow
Items found: Milk, Meatbun, Donut, Gatorade, Book of Fighting/Dashing/
Jumping/Turtling, Cursed Book, Spunk Donut, 'Special' Gatorade
Traps found: Luggage-shooting conveyor belts in baggage claim area.

Strategy/Comments: The strategy is to be the first in everything. The
decider is actually the first section where you get 3 options - it
determines whether you'll get the boarding pass first, and whether you
can get a seat of your own in the plane (even though you and other
runners will have to wait by the gate area). Having a weapon early in the
stage also helps as well - even though at some instances it will count
against you.
Very High is originally designed this way, so I made very little changes
for the stage. I didn't think about the conveyor belt route until I
started working on the stage though, but overall, as the first stage to
see the light of the day in BS:FM, I'd say it's a nice first try.
