Backstory: A young man of Native American heritage, Mirage's sport
of choice is actually hide and go seek. Ever-proficient in the art
of hiding, Mirage won the admittedly small but still prestigious
world championship for his favorite childhood activity. Eventually
he was coaxed to move on to newer, more grown-up things. Say, track
and field. Mirage took a liking to this almost immediately, adding
in his own touch to the game through hiding and sneaking. Rocky High
couldn't pass him up for their star track team lineup.

Special moves:

Special move #1
Move name: Seeking
What it does: Mirage taps the opponent on the shoulder. After this,
the next attack he performs on the opponent will do twice the damage
and knock down.
Effect: ****
Speed: **
Duration: ****
Range: Short (*)
Notes/Strategy:
Are you running neck-and-neck with the opponent and need a quick
and dirty way to take them down? Well, use this! Mirage will reach
out in front of him. If he touches an opponent, they'll effectively
be "marked." At this point, whatever attack you use on them next
does double damage and knocks down. Mirage slows down after reaching
out with his hand, so you'll have to catch up again if you want to
hit them. You can only "mark" one person at a time.

Special move #2
Move name: Hiding
What it does: Mirage turns invisible, save for his shadow.
Effect: ***
Speed: ****
Duration: ***
Range: Short (*)
Notes/Strategy:
This is two things in one: invisibility and invincibility to
attack. The problem? Well, you can only see where you're going via
your shadow, and that's not always easy to do in dark places. In
addition, this drains your stamina meter for as long as it's active;
to turn it off, press O. There's no real startup or recovery delay,
which is a good thing. This automatically deactivates if you run
out of stamina, and you can't attack or otherwise pick up stuff
while you're invisible. You also can't use this if you've enacted
the Invitaton to Play; see below for more details.

Special move #3
Move name: Invitation to Play
What it does: Mirage tries to reach out to an opponent again. If he
succeeds, he'll quickly have a talk with them to coax them into
playing hide and seek. They'll agree. Fun ensues...
Effect: ****
Speed: **
Duration: ****
Range: Short (*)
Notes/Strategy:
This move is a lot of fun, but also carries risks. Mirage
convinces the victim he catches to play hide and seek with him,
which stuns them for a couple of seconds as they count to whatever
number. When they're "ready," they'll have a temporary boost to all
their stats. However, they can only attack Mirage and they can't
bypass him until they hit him with an attack. When attacked by this
person, Mirage will take double damage and will always be knocked
down; at this point the opponent will lose their bonus. This
receives a two star rating since it takes a couple of moments to get
the opponent to play, but despite this it's still quite useful. This
is unblockable, but can't be used in combos.

--
Character strategy: Stand-alone, Mirage is more or less a decent
all-around racer with average abilities except in terms of
durability, but with a slightly higher jump to compensate. His main
power comes in his fun special moves. Invitation to Play is a mean
way to put slower characters potentially out of the running, as
where Hiding allows him to pass through hazardous areas without too
much trouble. Seeking is especially fun; tag an opponent, and
they'll begin to fear as Mirage's next attack will pack a *lot* of
punch as long as he can catch up to them again. His lack of a good
ranged attack and his somewhat weak stamina and life stats are
downers, but he can be a lot of fun to play against the right
characters.

Introduction dialogue:
*Mirage leaps out of a bush and gives you a bit of a shove, as
evidenced by the screen waving a bit*
Mirage: Tag, you're i-- oh! Sorry, sorry! I thought you were one of
the players. I'm sorry!
*Now you turn to face Mirage himself, who's looking... well,
comparatively normal in terms of composure.*
Mirage: Wait! I've seen your face before. You're the marathon runner
that's been generating a whole lot of buzz! Didn't think I'd ever run
across you.
*Now Mirage brings up his hands, as if to plead.*
Mirage: In fact, I kinda want to play. I'm still a kid at heart! Could
we do something together? I don't like tag... how about hide and seek?
Or just a race?! C'moooon! It's gonna be late soon!
*A dialog box pops up asking you if you accept his challenge or not*

Yes, I accept your challenge:
*Mirage leaps up in a cheer.*
Mirage: Great! Okay, what did you want to play... a race? That's fine
with me!
*Mirage leans dwon and draws a line on the ground with his finger.*
Mirage: Any special rules in mind? I heard a few people at the arcades
yell about a "NO THROWING" rule. Are you one of those people?
*start race*

No, I don't accept your challenge:
*Mirage looks down, disappointed.*
Mirage: Aww... okay, I guess it's back to playing tag with the others.
Can you visit me again later to play? I'd love it!
*goes back to opponent selection screen*

You win the race:
*Mirage runs up after you, energetic as ever.*
Mirage: Hey, wait! Don't go yet! *Pant* I just want to say... I had
fun! But I guess you're in a hurry, so I'll be seeing you. Can you
come back again later? I mean, sure, we're both likely way too old for
this, but I wonder why so many people throw away their inner child
after they reach a certain age. I'm glad you and I still have it!
*goes to point calculation screen*
*screen shows you beat that stage*

You lose the race:
*Mirage hops up and down happily*
Mirage: I win! I win! ...Want to go again? What, no? You have to go?!
Well, stop by again to play with me. Maybe next time you'll win! I
mean, if you're not too sour about losing like some of my friends
are... see you later!
*goes to point calculation screen*
