proportions: when he was young, he traveled forty days and forty
nights in the desert without food or drink. This almost killed him,
but his miraculous survival has become local legend despite the fact
it mirrors a religion different to his own. His perseverence has
carried him through school life without a hitch. He's usually off in
his own world when alone, even on the track - very little can
disturb him once he's zoned out.

Special moves:

Special move #1
Move name: Way of the Camel
What it does: When standing still, Muhammad Tariq's stamina recovers
twice as fast.
Effect: *****
Speed: N/A
Duration: *****
Range: N/A
Notes/Strategy:
This ability is always active. Stand still and it'll do its
magic. You can get away with being really carefree about sprinting
and such because of this.

Special move #2
Move name: Taste of the Oasis
What it does: Muhammad Tariq receives double the effect when using
healing items, be it for good or bad.
Effect: *****
Speed: N/A
Duration: *****
Range: N/A
Notes/Strategy:
Like the Way of the Camel, you don't have to do anything special
to activate this. Pick up a healing item and it has double the
effect. No more, no less. However, there's a flip side to this -
poisoning items do twice the damage! You'll have to be a lot more
careful because of this.

--
Character strategy: Tariq is one of the better beginner characters.
With all-around abilities minus his very weak physical attacks,
Tariq can afford to expend stamina carelessly compared to the rest.
He has the game's fastest stamina recovery, and the double recovery
item bonus makes it difficult to keep him down. The tradeoff is
that his damage potential is also the lowest in the entire game,
with no damage-dealing special attacks to go with his pitiful
combos. Still, you can basically get away with sprinting almost all
the time and his jump is respectable; if you're a first-timer, you
can't go wrong with him at all.

Introduction dialogue:
*Muhammad Tariq's seen sitting underneath a tree near a subway,
looking down and away from you.*
Tariq: The concrete jungle is exhausting... are you seeking shelter,
too?
*He then looks up to see just who you are.*
Tariq: My uniform? Yes, I'm part of the Kings High track team. And
you... why, yes, I've heard of you. So we meet.
*Tariq stands and politely bows.*
Tariq: Did you come to challenge me to a race? Or is our meeting just
a simple coincidence?
*A dialog box pops up asking you if you accept his challenge or not*

Yes, I accept your challenge:
*Tariq stands up straight again.*
Tariq: Very well. I expect a good challenge, but I must warn you. My
ability is in the power to pace myself. Can you do the same?
*start race*

No, I don't accept your challenge:
*Tariq nods, and sits down again.*
Tariq: Indeed, it is coincidence. But one day, you and I shall race
together. I will look forward to it, as should you.
*goes back to opponent selection screen*

You win the race:
*Tariq is seen dragging himself to the finish line, exhausted and
thirsty. Your character holds out a bottle of water, which he gladly
takes.*
Tariq: *Pant, wheeze* Thank you...
*The scene changes to Tariq sitting down at a bench.*
Tariq: So, I have failed to win. Your quest is still in its infancy...
I wish you luck. I have little else to say that you wouldn't already
know.
*goes to point calculation screen*
*screen shows you beat that stage*

You lose the race:
*Tariq stands over you, offering a bottle of water.*
Tariq: You have plenty of spirit, but your consistency leaves plenty
to be desired. You can't hope to succeed unless you know how to
spread out your effort over an even amount of time, instead of all at
once.
*Tariq helps you up, then walks off.*
Tariq: Challenge me again when you learn this.
