Another Q&A with Pen . . .
Q. What inspired the poems you've written an dhow many are true to your personal experiences?

A. Both nothing and something.  I know that's confusing but here's my explaination:  I say nothing because to my concious mind it is nothing.  A lot of times I subconciously come up with words and sentences and sometimes almost complete poems come to mind and wake me out of sleep!  To my concious mind I'm not thinking about or being inspired by any thing.  I'm just trying to get my dream on.  I say something does inspire me because my out-look on what I see also has a lot to do with what I write.  Only about 2% of what I write about is my own personal experiences because there are some things that I'm recently coming to grips with and openly talking about through this art form and as I previously mentioned my out look on what I see and even situations that I like or dislike (though it may not personally pertain to me) is what inspires me.
Q. Would you consider yourself the type of writer who could write a poem on the spot the way free style rappers can rap on the spot?

A. Most of the time but not always. At least eight times out of ten.
Q. Is there any subject matter that you wouldn't discuss in your writing for people to read?

A. Probably not becuase I don't like limitations and I consider myself a well rounded person however, whatever I don't share openly would be for my own personal reasons.
Q. What else besides poetry do you write?

A. Songs, stories, letters, (which may seem obvious but not everyone writes letters. Some people hate writing them), essays and I'd like to get into writing articles professionally for magazines geared toward entertainment. . .hey one day I may start my own magazine!  Currently, I'm working on a monologue and I just recently editied and co-wrote a play.  I guess I write almost everything.  I hope God gives me some ideas to start writing a sitcom, or even to write for one that's already on television.  I'm brainstorming some ideas for a cartoon at the present time.
