5th Annual Round-Up Sunday

~~~ Community Worship Celebration ~~~
Sunday September 12th * 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon * Pendleton High School
Worship Celeberation is outside at the Pendleton High School track facility. Message by Michael Thompson, Professor of Youth Ministry at Northwest College and a surfing champion. Youth services in the auditorium. Kids church for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Children will be dismissed from the service at 11:05 to go to the old gym.
A lunch is being provided for FREE to all in attendance. Tickets are available from local participating churches. Music by Marty Campbell during fellowship lunch. For those outside: Do bring lawn chairs, blankets, and umbrellas. Freewill offering accepted in celebration service.
Free parking anywhere in the Pendleton High School lot. A shuttle will be provided for all who need it.
We are looking for some help with the Round-Up Sunday service. We are looking for ushers, help with the offering, publicity, litter patrol, hospitality, crowd control for the children's program, etc. Contact the church office if you can help. This is a big day for our community and we are looking to our churches to help us out.
Our new heating and cooling system for the sanctuary and heating in the basement has been completed. We are still accepting designated donations (mark "Santuary heat/air") to help pay for this much needed but unexpected repair.
If you are not registered to vote, have changed your name, mailing address, residence address or political party affiliation on your vogter registration, there are voter registraton forms on the table in the entryway that you can fill out and mail in.
The Round-Up Sunday posters are ready for distribution and we necourage each of you to take one to post in a workplace breakroom, bulletin board, etc. Also we need people to distribute (with permission) to area businesses, public bulletin boards, etc. Contact Anita if you can help.
With the Athens Olympics winding down, the July/August issue of Today's Christian has gtwo articles of special interest. They are on Olympic athletes Allyson Felix, (sprinter) dubbed "the world's fastest teenager", and Laura Wilkinson, diving gold medalist in the 2000 Olympics in Sydney. See this issue on the pegboard in the entryway at church.
Our Wednesday night dinners are schedled to begin September 22 at 6 p.m. This fun, popular and convenient program that has made such a positive impact in the life of our church this past year, needs your help. This program only works when we do. In other words, volunteers are needed for cooking and clean-up to make our dinners work. Please contact Patsy Phelps at 276-4898 or fill in the sheet in the entryway.
Sign-up on the bulletin board to help keep our church grounds clean and litter-free. This is a great way for individuals, couples and families to server. All it takes is one time per week. Contact Anita for any questions.
Many thanks to those who currently help to keep the outside of our church beautiful. Faber and Marie Dorough and Lynda Dunlap have done wonderful work with our flowers and landscaping. Tom Lewis and Jim Marquardt keep our lawn mowed. Others help from time to time with things. Thank you all very much.
Ladies: A scrapbook night has been scheduled at the church on September 24 (and the 3rd Friday each month after that). Bring your favorite photos along with your own supplies to put together some great memories. Bring fancy scissors, punches, decorative paper, dye cuts, stencils, etc. if you have them. Plenty of table space will be available and lots of great fellowship. Karen will provide a snack. No materials will be for sale.
The 2004-2005 school year is HERE. There are many children in our area that will need assistance with school supplies and back packs. If you would like to help with providing supplies, making monetary donations for the puchase of supplies, or organize a school supply drive within your group, organization etc etc. call the Salvation Army at 276-3369. You may drop your donations or registration forms at:
  • Pendleton City Hall -- 500 S.W. Dorian Ave, Pendleton
  • Salvation Army -- 150 S.E. Emigrant, Pendleton
  • Pilot Rock City Hall -- 144 Alder Place, Pilot Rock
See the enclosed bulletin insert regarding some great opportunites you won't want to miss. With school starting it's like a "new year" and new beginnings always come with some new requirements. Our children's program is growing and what a blessing that is. If our kids are attending, we must step up and provide teachers, helpers, etc. Is there ONE spot where you can serve? We ask that you prayerfully look at the sign-up sheet and see your place in the Lord's work here in our church. Team up with a friend, family member or your spouse to take that step into the exciting atmosphere of giving to others, which becomes an even greater blessing to you.
Hurricane Charlie damaged (roofs and flooding) several COG facilities in Florida: Warner Southern College, "Heart" missionary training center, Florida's district office, several churches and totally demolished one pastor's home. Any cash / check donations will be forwarded; mark "Hurricane" on your checks and envelopes and place in the offering.
Upcoming Meetings:
  • Church Council - Sunday September 19 at 5 p.m.
  • Board of Trustees - Tuesday September 21 at 6:30 p.m.
  • Music Committee - Monday September 27 at 6:30 p.m.
