Regular Worship Times Return

Beginning Sunday, August 31st, worship times will return to the winter schedule. Sunday School for adults and the Kids Breakfast Club will begin at 9:45 a.m. and Morning Worship Service will begin at 10:45 a.m. Children and students 3 years old through 12th grade will continue to be dismissed during the morning worship service.

Pastor Rick will be back in the pulpit on Sunday, September 14th.


Round-Up Sunday

Round-Up Sunday is scheduled for September 7 at 10:30 a.m. at the Pendleton High School Football field/track area. This service is supported by ten area churches and of course open to the public. A free hamburger lunch will be served following the service. Bring your own lawn chairs and if it's hot, don't forget the umbrella, hat, water, fan, etc. Golf carts will again transport those needing access help to the field area (right to your seat) and there will be a shuttle service from the parking lot areas at the high school.

If you have a student who will be away at school this fall, please contact the church office with mailing and e-mail addresses, with their permission. We like to stay in touch and will need those addresses for those Holiday goody boxes too!!

WEDNESDAY SHARE-A-MEAL

Our Wednesday night programs continue. We will get together and share a meal. Each Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. food will be served for everyone. Dinner will be provided at the church with a donation of $1.00 per person. Dinner is at 6 p.m. with Bible Study following. Back-to-School kickoff dinner was on August 27th featuring a hamburger barbecue. Watch the Sunday bulletin for each Wednesday's meal entree.

LADIES BOOK CLUB

The current book they will be reading is "This Present Danger"  by Frank Peretti.  They will meet to discuss it later in September.  If you would like to join in, get a copy (purchase, library, borrow) and start reading.  All ladies are invited to join us. (comment from your webmaster.. "this is one of my favorite books and authors - you will enjoy! -- very eye-opening too)


LADIES BIBLE STUDY

A new ladies Bible study will begin September 14, at 9:30 am. and Sunday evenings at 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Daycare will be available. The study is entitled "Jesus, the One and Only" by Beth Moore, with Teri Brickey leading it. There will be a workbook fee which will be announced.


YOUTH ACTIVITIES

Sign ups for the Round-Up booth are now being taken by Pastor Joseph.  This year's booth will feature beverages and Domino's Pizza sold by the slice.   Youth please sign up and we need all the adults we can get to help to sign up also.


CHILDRENS ACTIVITIES

Our Wednesday evening children's program is growing by leaps and bounds!  At this time, the group includes ages 3 throguh 5th grade, totalling about 20 children.  We need 2 more helpers than we have right now.  The commitment would only be for one month at a time, every third month.  If you can help, please contact Teri Brickey.


BREAKING NEWS

Needed: 

Nursery Attendants on Sundays.  In addition to our current list of attendants who are covering the morning worship time (10:45 - noon) more are needed for 9:30 a.m.-10:40 a.m., which is the adult Sunday school time. 

Sunday morning activities director--to line up volunteers to have some fun with the kids during their breakfast time (after they are done eating)--roughly 20-25 minutes.  Can be a game, music, object lesson, puzzles, crafts, etc.  Contact Patsy Phelps, 276-4898, Teri Brickey, 966-6962 or Tamara Pahl, 276-7115.

Wednesday night leaders for the kid's program.  It is a one-month (at a time) commitment.  The material is provided.  We can't let our kids down.  "Somebody else" has left our church and now it's up to the rest of us to step up and take a part in the ministry of our church.  You will be blessed more than they will!!!!  Contact Teri Brickey, 966-6962 or Patsy Phelps, 276-4898.

The following Sunday school classes will begin Sept. 14:

Promise Keepers - men's study at 9:45 a.m. downstairs across from youth room.  Leader is Jim Phelps.

Jesus the One and Only - women's study at 9:30 a.m. in the parlor (and video on Sunday evenings at 6:30-7:30 p.m.), lead by Teri Brickey.


Adult I - lessons from the Bible with Maggie Wurtz at 9:45 a.m.

Wednesday evenings Pastor Rick will lead the Bible study.

On Sept. 31, 5:45 - 6:30 p.m. there will be a teacher's meeting for all teachers of Wed. nights and Sundays to learn how to make teaching more fun and keeping preparation time to a minimum.

MORE BREAKING NEWS
Harvest Party is scheduled for Oct. 31.  A coordinator for this event is needed.

A Children's Christmas Program will be Dec. 14 during the morning worship service.  It is entitled, "Christmas Snapshots."

Two adult Sunday school classes will begin in January--one is "Experiencing God" and the other is on the book of Revelation.

There will be a baby dedication on Sunday, Sept. 28 during the morning worship service.


LOVE LOAVES

"Love Loaves" will be distributed Sept. 21.  This has been a tradition with our church (sponsored by the Evangelism Committee) during the holidays.  This year it will be a fall event in which people are given a small plastic bread loaf with a slot in the top in which a daily offering can be placed--dollars or coins.  They will be gathered in Oct.  The offerings gathered will go to World Vision.
