JULY 4TH
COMMUNITY WORKSHIP SERVICE



When and Where: Sunday, July 4th at 10:30 p.m. at the Community Park at S.W. 37th Street.
The theme and music will be patriotic. Guest speaker is Bill Hansell, Umatilla County Commissioner. A complimentary 4th of July picnic will follow the service (hot dogs, ice cream and drinks are provided. Bring a bag of chips to share! All are welcome, so invite a friend, bring a blanket or lawn chair, sunscreen, hat and a heart to worship. The park can be accessed by three parking lots:
  • S.W. 37th Street at the bottom of the Sherwood area
  • the Montee subdivision by taking S.W. 41st street
  • the McKay area by taking S.W. 44th Street and walking across the footbridge over McKay Creek.


CAMP WHITEBRANCH

Parent-Child:
For those entering 2nd grade -- for parents or guardians and their same sex children ---July 9-11; $105 for both before June 25.
Primary 
For those going into 3-4 grades -- July 5-8; $95 before June 21 --- (a fun camp experience with traditional activities)
Junior
For those going into 5-6 grades -- July 19-23;  $145 before June 28 --- (Special TV production activities, vespers, night games, sports, and more)
Junior High
For those just finishing grades 7-8 --July 12-16; $145 before June 28 --- (silent dinner, skits, morning circle, music, hikes, and lots of fun in the wilderness)
High School
For those going into 9-10-11-12th grade  -- July 26-30; $145 before June 28 --- (Service day, lots of movies and music, and something very different this year)

  • Scholarships available based on need.


TRANSPORTATION TO CAMP


Pastor Joseph will be taking the church van to the junior and senior high camps. Don't wait until the last minute to make plans for your student to attend these great camps. Over the years we have had many students attend every year and meet others from COG congregations all around the state of Oregon.

FIREWORKS BOOTH


Pastor Joseph is taking volunteers for helping with the fireworks booth. The booth opened on June 24th. Workers must be at least 12 years of age and there must be one adult per shift. It is not too late to volunteer to help. CONTACT JOSEPH TODAY!

SUMMER SUNDAY POTLUCKS

Our "Summer Sunday" potlucks will begin soon. Note that the July potluck will be SATURDAY July 10 at Becky and Allen Waggoner's home in Pilot Rock. The fun begins at 4 p.m. with some good old fashioned "water fights", slip n' slide, playing in the creek and also some "dry" games for the kids. Eating will begin at 6 p.m. Bring your choice of meat for Barbecuing and a salad or dessert to share (also bring lawn chairs) Table service and beverages will be provided. Watch at church for a map. August potluck will be at Dave and Malina Lindell's. Paper products will be provided.

PRAYER CONCERNS INFORMATION AND REQUESTS


If you have a prayer concern (or praise) that you would like listed in the Sunday bulletin or on the monthly web newsletter, please record the request on the "Friendship and Communication Card" found in the pew on Sunday and place in the offering plate or hand to an usher.  The request must be in writing, please.  Each concern and praise will be printed in the Sunday bulletins for three weeks.  If you have a private request, please indicate that and it will not be published.  We encourage everyone to take advantage of this resource.
