VALENTINES DAY FLORAL DELIVERIES

Contact Anita  for, our floral deliveries for Calico Country Design on Saturday, February 14. If you can possibly help out in this way please contact the church office. The time you "work" is credited to the church and goes a long way toward helping fund our benevolent floral needs throughout the year. And it is a lot of fun! Sign up with a partner or we'll match you up. Teams consist of a driver and a delivery person who goes to the door.

MID-WEEK SUPPERTIME

-->We are taking sign-ups for our mid-week suppertime.  Peoplle may sign up for preparing the meal or clean-up so those who prepared the meal can go directly up to the Bible study.  See the clipboard on the table or in the entryway.   The money taken in during the week before is what is used to buy food supplies.  If you have any questions contact Patsy Phelps.

 

SPRING SALAD LUNCHEON

--> CRAFTERS:  Our Spring Salad Luncheon and Garden Craft Bazaar is scheduled for April 2 and 3.  We are looking for quality crafts with an emphasis on gardening, but can include gift and decoration items for :  Easter, Mother's/Father's Day, graduations, weddings showers, July 4th etc.

YOUTH ACTIVITIES

Middle and high school youth are preparing for their winter retreat "BLIZZARD 2004"  See pastor Joseph for details.¨      Please be in prayer for this outing where youth from all over Oregon/S.W. Washington get together to worship, pray, enjoy challenging recreation and building relationships

 

CELL PHONES

If you have a functional, but idle and inactive cell phone, that still has decent cosmetics (looks good). you may donate it and it will be turnedin for cash.  This fund raiser is for the middle and high school youth group.  flyers for your work, bulletin boards, etc are available in the entryway.  Pick on up today!

WOMEN'S RETREAT

-->A women's retreat is planned for March 12-13-14 at Bannock Lodge at Meadowood Springs Speech and Hearing Camp.  This location offers walking trails in a  beautiful wooded setting just 11 miles from Weston,  sleeps up to 17 and has a full kitchen.  Due to space limitations, this will be open to the first 17 women (5 have signed up already) . The cost peor person will depend on how many attend.  With 10 attendees, lodging would be $20.45 for the entire weekend; less if it fills upRSVP to Malina Lindell with your $10 deposit. 

 

MEMORIAL COMMITTEE

The memorial committee announces that contributions can still be made in memory of Elaine Allen and George Mize.  Clearly mark your check or envelope as  a memorial donation in the name of the individual you choose.  Remember, memorial donations can also be made in memory of anyone you know (whether they attended here or not)  -- just indicate on your donation.


WOMEN OF FAITH

Would you like to be refreshed and rejuvenatedjust in time for spring?  Join a group of women on April 16-17 for the Women of Faith Conference in Spokane, WA entitiled  "IRRESPONSIBLE HOPE"  The special guests will be Kathy Troccoli and Tammy Trent.  The cost for the conference will be $59.  ($99 if you would like to go to the Friday Intensive with Jan Silvious and Chonda Pierce).  If interested, please contact BEcky Waggoner IMMEDIATLY (443-3043)

 

POTLUCK DINNER

Potluck is planned for Sunday, February 22 after church.  Sign-up with Billie Parker to bring a main dish, dessert, etc.

Ken Davis, Christian author and  comedian, will be performing  in Walla Walla.

"LOVE IS IN THE AIR"

"Love is in the Air" at teh Feb. 9th meeting of Pendleton After 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the Vert Clubroom.  S.W. 4th.  This special guest night is for men too and includes country love songs by our own Kathleen O'Hara and Robert Ward.  Guest speaker is Martin Vennenberg, an engineer.  A cornish game hen dinner will be served.  Cost is only $10.75 and we MUST HAVE RESERVATIONS BY MONDAY FEBRUARY 2.  Contact DiAnna Mileer or Anita Lewis today!  All ladies and men are invited.

RUMMAGE SALE

A rummage sale is planned for Saturday, March 6 in the Fellowship Hall downstairs.  We need your good, clean usable items to sell.  Items can be dropped off beginning after church on February 29 and throughout that week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., as well as Wednesday evening.  Advertising flyers will be available soon to take to your office, break room or business.

PEGBOARD

Check out the pegboard in the entryway.  It is full of timely magazines (New Man, Today's Christian, Focus on the Family) and daily devotionals (Daily, Quiet, Closer and Family Walks, Indeed, Tapestry) and the are FREE !  Pick them up for some great entertaining and inspiring reading.  If you would like to help underwrite these magazines, contact the church office.   If the devotional you use is already gone at the first of each month, let Anita know -- the issues can be increased.

  Campbells Soup labels, General Mills "BOX-TOPS" (going to local schools) and aluminum pop can tabs (which helps the Ronald McDonald House in Portland) in the marked collection cans in the entryway.

PRAYER  CONCERNS

Cindy Darlington   Pray for the doctor's wisdom concerning her back.  Also pray for her husband, Rod

Kori Schofield   Pray for her friend's mother who was paralyzed from the neck down in a car accident.  Surgery may be able to restore some of the feeling and movement.

Russ Warner   Pray for him as he travels to Walla Walla for daily radiation therapy.  Pray that the side effects are minimized.

Faber and Marie Dorough  Pray for their neice, Sue Ann Hiatt, who is coping with radiation and chemotherapy treatments.

Kathy Persinger  Pray for quick and smooth sale of their home and the purchase of a new one before March when their baby is due.

Darlene Marquardt  Pray for her daughter as she continues a full daily schedule of classes, homework and a job.  Pray for physical rest and spiritual peace.  Praise for a partial answer concerning her hectic schedule as even though she is still working full time and going to school full time, her job is currently scheduled for weekends only (3 - 12 hour shifts) .. she has a problem coming up next term with a must-do class that conflicts with her Friday  work scheduel..pray for that to work out without loosing her job or having to graduate a year later to catch the class.
