Tourists outside Sleeping Beauty Castle, Disneyland

Can you...

Spot The Tourist?

For many native southern Californians, Disneyland is something very different from the mecca of the pilgrimage made by tourists from all over the world. Many of us grew up in the park with regular trips for birthday parties, school organizations, dates, and Grad Nights. Often, we went just... because. Disneyland is to us something like a best friend's living room, and after dinner we get a parade and then go ride Space Mountain.

As years went by, we naturally developed our own favorite things to do and see, as well as opinions, traditions, and yes, games. Here is our current game, which has several variations (Spot the Cast Member, Spot the Suit, etc...). Have fun!

Explanation of Terms

RULES
1. Participants can play individually or divide into teams. If playing in teams, each team gets one score sheet and all calls are tallied on that sheet. Winner is determined by the highest number of points at the end of the day.
2. If playing over several days, use a new score sheet for each day and add the scores from all the days together at the end of your visit. Team or participant with the highest number of points at the end of your total visit wins.
3. Call a spotted item by saying "Tourist!" or any other term agreed upon by all participants.
4. Once called, no one else can claim that particular item on that particular guest/group for the remainder of the day. That guest/group may be called on a different item that same day.
5. Items about clothing apply to the clothing, not the guest. For example, if you spot a guest wearing a bathing suit in Cosmic Waves and you call it, then you later spot that same guest wearing a Knott's Berry Farm t-shirt in line for BTMR, you can call that, too.

Here is a printable text version of the game, written in Notepad.
It's about four pages long.

Special thanks to Mary for test-running this game with me.
