Question:
You are quite elderly and have no next of kin. Over your lifetime, you've amassed a small fortune; not billions upon billions, but enough for one person to live fairly comfortably without having to work. To whom or what would you leave the money, and why?

Responses:

"I'd set up a job training program for the working poor, people who've shown a willingness to dig themselves out of the hole."

"I'd establish an endowed chair for an academic position in an area of less opportunity."

"I'd leave it to The Society for Ecological Restoration. Have them set up a scholarship to fund restoration research."

"Cindy I would leave it for research to find a cure for genetic illnesses like diabetes because of Beans [a friend's] diabetes."

"I think Nature Conservancy is on the right track, so I'd probably give it to them."

"I'd give it to my mates and say have one heck of a party."

You can email me your response or tell it to me the next time you see me, cindys_pencils, in the Yahoo Chat in "Beyond Planet Earth" rooms.
