It was a beautiful day. The sun was shining and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. Chloe sat a single park bench and opened the pocket manga she had. Why the hell am I doing this? She thought to herself. This is crazy. She was about to get up but then an image of Xavier crossed her mind. She sat down again. This was an extreme way of getting over a crush. She looked at the corner and jumped every time a person passed by and searched for a rose in their hand. She felt like she was going crazy. She then turned her attention to her comic book. She loved the drawings. She got to the part where tuxedo mask saves sailor moon from the grasps of the yuoma. Suddenly a rose popped in front of her face. Chloe freaked out. It was the guy. He was in back of her and the rose dropped down from the top of her head. Chloe turned around quickly. She was face to face with him. She looked into his eyes but was forced to look downwhy? She couldn't tell what color eyes he had. Brown she got, but there are so many shades of brown. She slowly looked up and focused her eyes to see the face in front of her. "Xavier!" Chloe said as she realized who it was. She jumped up from the bench and faced him. "What the hell are you doing here?" He got up slowly with a smirk on his face. "Well, I figured you would tell us the wrong place. So when you left the dinerI followed you." "You followed me?" Chloe said with more admiration than anger. She caught herself. And repeated with anger. "You followed me?!" Xavier stood up and dusted himself. "Yeahvery sly Chlo, telling us 48th when you're at 16th." "Why did you follow me? I told you I can handle myself." "Heycan't a guy take a nice casual walk in the park?" "Not if he's harassing a girl." Xavier sat down on the bench. "Well, I wanna see what this ass looks like." "Don't call him an ass. You don't even know him." "And you do?" "Better than you." A biker passed by. Chloe realized that it would look weird if she was standing up. So she sat down. "I don't know why you want to do this Chlo" Chloe looked down. "It's none of your business." "Hey," He looked at her. "Don't give me this tough girl bullshit. It's not you." "And you know what's me" "Yeah" He looked away. "You're this sweet, intelligent girl that would be smart enough to know not to put her life in danger." Chloe looked at him. She couldn't believe she was hearing this. "Look Chloe" He looked back at her. This time Chloe couldn't turn away. His eyes met hers and she didn't know what was happening. It was like for that moment it was only the two of them in the park. She finally got the color of his eyes. Chestnut brown. In a flash the moment was gone and he looked down at the ground. "Chloe" "What?" "You deserve better than this guy." "How do you know that." "Listenyou're funnyyou're smartyou have a great personalityand you're pretty" Chloe thought she didn't hear that correctly, he said I was pretty? "I'm just saying that you deserve more than a guy that would take advantage of all those qualities." "I don't want to be anything more than friends with this guy." "Yeahthat's funny." He started to laugh. "You said he's in high school right?" She nodded. "Chloe I know how he thinks. He probably was pushing for a meeting ever since you started to talk to him. He doesn't want a friendship, he wants more." He paused for a second. "And I'm not going to let him take advantage of you that way." Chloe was dumfounded. She thought she was going to cry. She felt herself go back into being in love with him. He wants to protect me! She stopped for a second. There was something between them, she needed to know once and for all if he felt the same way she did for him. She took a deep breath and asked, "Why do you worry about me so much?" "I dunnoChloe, you're just special to me. If you ever got hurt, I would kill the guy who hurt you." Chloe placed her hand on his and looked at him. "But why?" He looked at her and said, "Because" Chloe's heart was racingThis was it.this was it. "Becauseyou're like a sister to me." "What?" Chloe's heart stopped. No, Oh shit! Wrong answer! She dropped her hand. "You're like a sister to me. I feel like I need to watch over you." Shit! Shit! Shit! No.don't go on. Please. A cousin would've been even betterbut a sister? Chloe's heart sank. It was like she was hit with a ton of bricks. That was it, alright. She had no chance now. "Hey, ChloeYou alright? Blink or say something." "UhIt takes some time digest all thisThat's really deep Xavier." "Hey, well it's the truth." He smiled. D'oh! He glanced at his watch. "Where's assholeit's already five thirty." She glanced at hers. He was right. "Guess he didn't show." "Good, if he did I would've kicked his ass." He stood up. "Do you need a ride home?" "Yeah" Chloe got up. She carried her comic book and put the rose that Xavier gave between the pages. She hadn't noticed before, but the rose was white. "Thanks for the rose." "Hey no problem." Xavier said as he started towards the parking lot. "I knew you preferred white roses over red ones." Chloe stopped walking. She didn't remember telling him that. She recalled the convo she had with Tux last night. TuX3do: How will I know who you are? ChloCone: I'll be the one reading the manga. Bout you? TuX3do: I don't know TuX3do: Ok, since we're going with a sm themeI'll be the one carrying a rose ChloCone: nice touchbut make it a white, I hate red roses. |
