She felt she was smacked in the back, her cheeks began to burn. Izzy just stood there, tears in her eyes, shaking her head. "Izzy," Alex said. He still held Krysta close to him. "I was going to tell you." Izzy wiped her eyes and looked at him just for a moment, "Tell me?" Her eyes wild with anger. "When were you going to tell me? When would you tell me that you're a cheating bastard?" She ran towards him flailing her arms, pounding on his chest. "How could you do this to me? I stayed with you. Even when we fought, I loved you goddammit!" Her tears were uncontrollable now. Her voice lowered, "How could you?" "Izzy," Alex finally let go of Krysta and grabbed Izzy's arm. "Calm down will ya. Things like this happen all the time, I just fell out of love. I was going to tell you. Calm down." "Don't." Izzy pushed his arm away. She glared at him. "Don't tell me what to do. I don't belong to you anymore." She turned and ran away. David just came out of the locker room when he saw an upset Izzy running towards the door. "What the hell..." He turned to see Alex with Krysta. "Shit.." he whispered. He started for the door. "Stay away from her Johnson...mind your own business." Alex yelled after him. David turned around for a second. "F*ck you Alex. F*ck you!" and ran after Izzy. ********* The snow had melted to slush. No more crunch, crunch, but rather squish, squish. Izzy couldn't stop crying. She started to hiccup. She passed a comforting bench. "No," she whispered. "I have to get out of here I can't...hiccup...stand this." How could he do this to her? Moreover, how could she be so stupid? The signs were right in front of her, but she denied them. And she had just convinced herself that he was the one for her. How could she be so stupid? She shook her head and picked up her pace. "I have to go..." she whispered again. "Izzy, wait..." She looked behind. It was David. She didn't want to stop, she just kept on walking. David caught up to her though, he matched her step. "Are you ok?" He said. "No...hiccup..." She continued to look down. "Dave, how could I be so damn stupid? All...hiccup... the freaking signs were right in front of me and...hiccup...I didn't do a thing...Why am I so stupid?" "You're not stupid." David said, he was tempted to put his arm around her. He wanted to comfort her, to hold her, but he resisted...she didn't need any more confusion. "Look...he's a bastard for doing that to you. He should've told you from the beginning instead of dragging it on for so long..." Izzy stopped walking. A new anger grew within her. She stopped hiccuping and looked up. "For so long?" David turned to look at her. He cursed under his breath. "You knew?" Izzy asked. David nodded slowly. "You knew, and you didn't tell me?" Izzy began to shake her head again. "I can't believe this...Why didn't you tell me?" He looked down. "I didn't want to be the one to hurt you." Izzy threw up her arms. "This is bullshit." She started to walk away from him. "You should've told me...I ...I don't know anymore...You're no better than he is." "Izzy wait..." He ran after her again. "How could I tell you that your boyfriend was cheating on you when you're always going off on how freakin perfect he is?" Izzy stopped and turned around. "How freakin perfect he is? God, David, don't you have eyes? You knew our relationship was going nowhere...you should've said something." "Don't put the responsibility on me for your failed relationship." David yelled back. He didn't want to, but he had to. He lowered his voice. "Look, I know I should've told you, but that doesn't give you the right to compare me to that son of a bitch." Izzy was shocked, David never yelled at her before. "I'm sorry David..." she started to cry again. "But I don't know what's going on anymore. I'm going to go home." This was too much for her. She wiped her tears and started slowly away. "Do you want me to walk with you home?" "No...I need to be alone." She picked up pace and turned the corner. David just stood there cursing at himself.
