Chloe-- Prom Scene By Jackie Punsal Disclaimer: I own all these characters and storylines. IF U TAKE THEM I WILL HUNT U DOWN!! Enjoy :) Chloe sat down and adjusted the straps of her shoes. She had been dancing all night and she needed to sit down. Izzy seemed to have the time of her life though, she somehow wiggled her way through to the center of the dancefloor. Once she sat down, Chloe couldn't get up. She was exhausted and searched the table for a glass of water. Suddenly the flashing lights slowed and the tone got softer. They were playing a slow song. Chloe looked across her table...she was the only one sitting. "This sucks." She whispered to herself as she stared longingly at the couples that were on the dance floor. "I got to stop looking like at dork." She got up and walked to the bathroom. As she suspected, no one was inside. She sat down at the little vanity and stared in the mirror. She had to admit, she did look different. Her hair was up, she wore contacts, and makeup. Makeup! Who'd ever think that Chloe would ever wear makeup? And her dress...beautiful, a smooth silk burgundy spaghetti strap one. When she said she was trying to impress everyone, she wasn't lying. She was nevertheless successful. When Xavier saw her that night, only one word escaped his lips, "Wow." Chloe frowned. But she didn't want that anymore, or she wasn't supposed to want that anymore. She was thoroughly convinced that he didn't want her. What he said didn't mean anything, just a friend complimenting another. She shook her head. The song was almost over, so she placed a bit more makeup and walked out. She could feel her skin tingle as she left the cool bathroom and went into the hot ballroom. She swiftly glided through the other tables to reach her own table. She sat down...the song was almost over then she could dance again. The slow song finally ended. She quickly rose up off her seat. "Would everybody please sit down. We are about to announce the Prom Prince and Princess." The DJ said as the house lights slowly brightened giving the room a cozy ambiance. Chloe sat immediately down as the rest of her party assembled to the table. Izzy hopped towards the table with Greg following her. "Wow, that was great!! I love this. I'm having so much fun!" She said breathlessly as she grabbed the nearest glass of water. Greg took his seat next to Chloe. He looked so worn out. "Have fun?" Chloe whispered to him. "Yeah...just tired, that's all" He responded as he poured himself a glass of water. "Izzy looks like she's having a good time. But I never figured that she had so much energy in her." He looked at her and smiled. "Hey, Chloe, you still owe me a dance." "Really," She said as she rose her eyebrow. "Well, honey, you should've signed my dance card, cuz I'm all booked." He gave a soft chuckle. "Damn." He laughed some more. "Well, if anyone backs out just call me...I'll be with the hyper girl to my right." Chloe smiled. She knew that Greg knew that she spent the slow song in the bathroom. She held his hand and gave it a quick squeeze. She lipped the words "thank you," to him. He nodded and smiled. He really watched out for her, and she was glad he did. "Well, well, well, I hope you Seniors are having a fun time." Miss Hoover said as she gradually sauntered to the middle of the dance floor. She was replied with a variety of yells. "You should be, with all the hell you put me through preparing for it." Laughs. "Ok, we tallied the votes to bring you your Prom King and Queen. And your prom prince is..." The DJ played a drum-roll. "Alexander Williams." Chloe's jaw dropped. She knew who the princess would be. Greg knew what was up and he quickly switched seats with Chloe. Izzy slouched a little, and her face was not as cheery as before. "Iz..." Chloe whispered to her friend. Miss Hoover crowned Alex and gave him his scepter. Izzy remained silent. "Your prom princess is..." Miss Hoover said gaily. Drum-roll. "Elizabeth Johnson." Izzy sat silently for a sec and put on a smile. Claps were sounded, but a bit unsure and uncomfortable. Apparently the votes were tallied before their breakup. Izzy got up and turned to Chloe who stood up with her. Chloe was nervous, she didn't know how Izzy was going to take it. Izzy smiled, gave her friend a hug. Chloe whispered to her, "Are you ok?" Izzy ended the hug and nodded. "I am, gee, I'm Prom Princess, why wouldn't I be ok? He will not ruin this night for me." She smiled and gave Greg a hug. "Well Miss Johnson, hurry up and accept the crown." Miss Hoover called. Izzy walked over and let herself be crowned and took her place next to Alex. Chloe sat down. She stared at the both of them. Izzy was smiling like the social queen she was and Alex was grinning like the jerk he was. "Don't they look comfy." Greg whispered to Chloe. "I know...I just hope she doesn't freak again." Chloe said. She was still looking at Izzy. The lights dimmed and the room looked like it was lit by candlelight. "And now, your prince and princess will dance the Class of 2001 Senior Prom song." Miss Hoover said and pushed the two to the dance floor. The DJ began to play, "I Never Had a Dream Come True" by S-Club 7. They danced like two children, repulsed at each other. "Now, can every body join?" Miss Hoover chanted. The couples flooded the dance floor surrounding Alex and Izzy. "I better go and cut in. She might beat him up." Greg said to Chloe and went into the mass of couples. "Damn it, what the hell am I goin to do with myself now?" Chloe thought to herself. She decided to go to the bathroom once again. She bent over to pick up her purse when she felt a tap on her shoulder.
