The Weather

The sun is shining today.
About the only difference,
at least in the mind-numbing weather,
between yesterday and today.

You loved me, you didn’t.
The difference is appalling,
the barbed, wounding words mark the difference,
Between yesterday and today.

I knew it would be a horrid day.
Once I awoke I could smell it,
a change in the air, in the sun’s hapless rays
Between yesterday and today.

You didn’t sleep in bed last night.
A simple touch that made you smile,
Makes you cringe nowadays, that transformation
Between yesterday and today.

I wonder what I did, if it is even me at all.
What transgression had occurred,
In those wee hours, to denote this alteration
Between yesterday and today.

Tomorrow could be gloomy again.
Perhaps the offense will fade,
In the hazy dream web confines of mist
Between yesterday and today.
