Peg's Pilgrimage Pages- October
October 31st- Happy Halloween!
There is a link in the text above to some photo albums in Yahoo. Let me know if you have trouble accessing them. Unfotunately, I haven't been able to upload any new photos to this site.I'm working on that issue.
A couple of notes about the albums:
"From the car" is literally pictures I took while driving along.Probably not the smartest thing I've ever done, but it's a digital camera so I just held it up and clicked and hoped for a good picture. Some are, some aren't. The Moab pictures are from the two hikes we took in Moab. And "My backyard" includes a couple of photos I took this morning when Alex and I went out for a walk.

Saturday October 30th, 8:10 pm, Mountain Time
Don't forget to turn your clocks back 1 hr tonight!
So, I missed to Sox parade...sigh.Maybe next year? Oh wait, I'll be in LA.
Driving has been fairly uneventful. We did get snow outside of denver yestrday morning...I think...the days all run together now.We stopped in Moab and did some hiking
(see pictures). We met lots of very nice mountain bikers who wanted to say hello (to Alex, not me...I've looked like ass this entire week so i'm sure they wanted to stay far away from me!). Lots of people saw my sox hat and offered congrats. The guy at my hotel in Moab said he was a Yankees fan, but that even he was very happy for us.
Driving across Utah was creepy.Beautiful, yes, but creepy when you are all alone and making that drive for the first time. Kanab is lovely, but also very remote.Big change for me.Walmart is over an hour away!!!! But, there is beer in this town, even though many of youn doubted that there would be. I am very happy drinking my Squatter's Chasing Tail right now.
OK, very tired, and I still need to unpack. Will write more over the weekend.

Wednesday October 27th, 8:29 local time.
Bottom of the 3rd, Red Sox 3, Cardinals 0. Are we really just over 6 innings away????
Today was the first opportunity I had to write since I left Boston on Sunday. After many tears I managed to get on the road and arrived at my parent's house with enough time to visit with my cousin and her baby before watching game 2.  Monday I rested.  Tuesday I drove to Chicago, and today was spent trying to get across a very gray and dreary Iowa.  However, Iowa did have some very nice rest stops with wireless internet so I am in no way knocking Iowa!!! (though it did take FOREVER to cross).  Here I sit in York, Nebraska (after spending an hour on the phone with a service rep trying to figure out why the wireless internet wasn't working.  I think I am the only person staying at this lovely Best Western. Alex and I went on a very disappointing beer run...all we could find was a convenience store with Coors, Bud and Corona (no limes). Sigh....
Tomorrow will be a shorter day- once I make it across Nebraska (no easy feat!) I'm only going a little past Denver.  Hopefully we get to do some hiking, because Alex and I feel very lazy!!!WSell, at least I do.  He is busy sampling the beds.  Trying to decide between them I guess.
Top of the 4th.  Still 3-0.  C'mon Sox!!!

Wednesday October 20th

Game 7 ALCS- Wahoo!  Go SOX! You made it this far, just keep on going!!!! :)
Anyway.... 3 more days of work, 5 before I start my trek.  I'm not ready!!  So much packing and moving to do. Yikes!  BUT I have sold a bunch of CDS, I did get my snowboard rack, and last night I installed my bidnings on my new board.  And Will bought boots and bindings too. No turning back for him now! I still need to get rid of my bed and my desk. The rest of the furniture, we'll figure out shortly, I hope. As for the actual trip, I've booked a few pet friendly hotels along the way and I'm choosing some hiking stops so we can both get our exercise... suggestions welcome!
Once again:
GO SOX!!!!!

Sunday October 10th, 10:30 am
First item of business: Go SOX! :-)
2nd: two weeks to go, and I have a lot of stuff to clean out of my aprtment, and very little time. I probably shouldn't be sitting here typing this, I should be cleaning and throwing things out.

Items for sale:; Queen size loft bed and mattress, computer desk, lots of books (listed on www.amazon.com), possibly a snowboard, though I can't seem to bring myself to part with my very first board yet.

Items needed: Snowboard rack for car, snowboard bindings for my spectacular new board. I plan to do some riding during my travels so i need to get these before I go. Preferably cheap. I'm running out of cash already.

Saturday October 3rd. 7:15 pm.
Hello! In just three weeks I'll begin my excursion across the country to Best Friend's Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah. I've decided to keep a little journal online so my friends can follow along with me. :) I just bought the car that will take me out there- after much back and forth I finally broke down and bought a brand new 2005 Subaru Outback Sport. If nothing else, the peace of mind I'll have driving a brand new car will be worth the $$$ spent. I'm in the process of cleaning out my apartment, getting rid of my "big" stuff since Will and I will be moving to LA a few months after I return from Kanab. Anyone need a queen size loft bed? two piece dog friendly sectional sofa? Shelving? Negotiate trade for snowboard roof rack!
Anyway...I'm both excited and apprehensive about my two months far away from friends and family with no income to speak of. Yikes! What was I thinking?!?!?!? I just got a new iBook as well, equipped with an iSight so I'm ready for xcountry video chatting. Hope it works out!
OK. Well, I'm off to dinner to celebrate Will's 30th. Old man... :) Finally catching up to me.
Ciao!
My two loves! :)
