IceCast is a streaming audio server that is self hosted on your own PC which allows you to stream audio over the internet to listeners world wide. It supports Ogg Vorbis and MP3 audio streams. IceCast is FREE and is reletivly easy to set up if you are savey with setting up web servers. .
IceCast will run on Windows XP, 2000 & NT or on Linux OS (Red Hat 9.x RPMS)

What will I need???

Download and install IceCast2.0.0 to a folder on in Program Files on your PC.

Configuration

Open your IceCast folder and look for

amongst the files. Click on this Icon to launch the IceCast GUI.

On the GUI click the Configuration Button.
This will launch a Notpad file that you need to edit with your stream details.

To get the server setup and running you only need to configure six lines in the code.

These are:
<source-password> - will be used by the source client (DSP Encoder)
<admin-password> - will be used to access admin features of icecast
<listen-socket> (both port and bind-address)
<logdir> - directory where log files will be placed
<webroot> - any static content can be placed here (file serving root)
<adminroot> - directory containing admin xslt files

A far more detailed description of the Configuration can be found in the Help File via the About menu.

Once the config is setup Save the file and close Notepad.
You now need to configure your DSP Encoder to connect to your IceCast server by making sure it shares the same Password and Port numbers as IceCast.

On the GUI click on Start Server and the Server Status should change from Stopped to Running Status.

You should now be broadcasting via IceCast.
To check your stream is live visit your Admin page to check the live stats data.
