People often wonder why my kind is like this. My pre-evolution, Koffing was smiling all the time. Koffings were always happy, always. A Koffing loved itself no matter what, because it would always make people laugh and smile. A Koffing never wanted to change. They loved to make people happy, and doing so, made them happy as well. No one ever saw a frown on a Koffing's face. I heard that back in medieval times, they used to be substitutes for Jokers. I wouldn't be surprised, that was a job for a Koffing!
My master especially needed a Koffing's charm and sunshine. When I was one, he would always confide in me when he was sad. I would cheer him up with either my goofy look, or charm most of the time. He would talk to me about his home problems, which were sometimes unbearable, and I just listened and gave him my big, radiant smile. Not only was he happy, but I was as well, I was always happy to help him.
When my friend Ekans and I were out one day, about a year ago, we had noticed our masters cramming things in their head about pokmon evolution. It was not too long before we figured it out. Our masters wanted us to evolve. Why did they want such a thing? I always thought my master loved me for who I was. Ekans had thought the same about her master. Then we realized they weren't really thinking when wanted us to evolve. They did love us for who we were, and when they realized their mistake, they thought it was an awful thing to do. So they began to cry. I knew that James did care about my feelings, but deep down I knew he wanted me to evolve. I had never thought about ever evolving, but I did do it, for my master. To that day, I have always regretted my course of action. I'm not a Koffing anymore, and I can never be happy again as a consequence.
Now I was a Weezing. I knew I would never smile again, for Weezings never smiled. I grew 2 more faces in the process. I still have no clue to this day why I had. Those faces did nothing for me. I could never cheer my master up, and he didn't confide in me anymore. After I had evolved, he wanted to talk to me about another problem with Jessie, but my gloomy face and attitude didn't help much. He decided not to bother trying again.
About a week ago, Arbok and her master had some sort of bonding experience, and now Arbok gets to stay out of her pokeball. I was really happy for her, but I didn't think I would ever get to stay out of mine. James and I just didn't seem to possess that kind of bond anymore, and I didn't think we ever would again.
My master had let me out of my pokeball. "Guess what, Weezing," he said. "We're going to quit Team Rocket!"
"Weez (why)?" I asked.
"We don't feel like being evil anymore," James continued. "I hope you don't mind."
"Weez Weezing (No not at all)," I said. I was actually glad that my master and Jessie decided to quit that organization. Perhaps now they could lead a little more normalish lives, and not be hunted down half the time.
About an hour later, we were at Giovanni's Western Headquarters. There, we were told that we had to wait until Giovanni was free to see us. So we waited. Jessie and James were talking and drinking stuff from the vending machines while I was just floating around. Right then I chose to ask the Meowth a question I had been thinking about for a little while.
"Weezing Weez Weezing( Why did my master and Jessie really want to quit)?" I asked him.
"Well, I'm not quite sure myself." Meowth answered. " I guess it's because 'dey were sick of failing, and knew 'dey could prosper if 'dey quit. Just like when Jessie beat 'dat Pikachu with Arbok. She did it by herself, and didn't cheat or nothin! I guess 'dey wanted to succeed more often."
"Weez (Yes)," I agreed, thinking about it.
It was then that we were summoned into Giovanni's office.
"What do you want from me this time?" he roared when we were in.
"Well..." my master started timidly. "We want to quit," he said.
"Quit?" Giovanni repeated.
"Yes," Jessie answered.
"I'm afraid I can't let you do that." He had an evil smirk on his face.
"And why not?" Jessie said. "We have a right to quit!"
"You three disgraces know more than you think," he said, pressing his fingers together.
Jessie and James flew into each other's arms, both shaking. "Know wha-what?" my master asked, stuttering.
"That is none of your business!" he bellowed. "But I will not let you get away with all our secrets!" He stood up. "Articuno seize them!" He let a pokball slide out of his hands. One of the most beautiful pokemon I had ever seen came out. All blue all around, this pokemon, whatever it was, was flying gracefully up above our heads. It flapped its enormous wings and we could all feel a little chill in the air.
James, Jessie, Meowth, Arbok, and I looked above our heads to gaze at it. "It's really pretty," Jessie whispered.
"I'm glad you think so." Giovanni said. "But I don't think you'll think it's so pretty when it destroys you."
The five of us shifted our vision to the nefarious man. "I don't think so!" Jessie said glaring at him. "Arbok gooooooo!" she said pointing at Articuno.
"Charbaaaaak!" my friend cried as she prepared for battle.
"Arbok sludge attack now!" Jessie cried.
Arbok complied and emitted the toxic sludge towards the bird. But with one swift flap of its wings, the Articuno evaded it.
Jessie's mouth dropped down. "Ohhhhhhhhh," she mumbled.
"Articuno! Drill peck now!" Giovanni commanded.
"Cticoooooo!!" It screeched as it was doing its attack. In one quick movement, it lunged at Arbok with its beak, instantly knocking her down!
"No! Arbok!" Jessie cried running to her pokemon. She was struggling to get up, but to no avail.
Giovanni smirked once again. "Surrender now, or prepare to die!" he said calmly. With a snap of his fingers, a bunch of Rockets appeared. My master gulped, and began to back up.
"Weez (no)," I said. "Weez! Weez Weezing Weezing! (I will not let you do this!)" I said as I floated over to Giovanni.
"Huh?" I could hear my master gasp.
As young Koffings, our parents told us of a most serious topic. Us Koffings possessed the most powerful attack ever discovered. Explosion. At first I didn't believe what my mother had told me, until one day it happened. My pack of Koffings and our leader were floating around one day, and just being ourselves, when we encountered some humans. Being the pokemon that we were, we began to play with them, showing off our tricks, and making them laugh. Then one human got the idea that we would make very nice "Circus pokemon". I had no clue what a circus was at the time, but what I did know was that these humans wanted to capture us to perform in it. They threw a big net over us, and the only one of us that escaped was our pack elder, a Weezing, the only Weezing in our group. All I could remember was bright light, and smoke, smoke everywhere. Then, he was no longer with us. He had sacrificed his own life, to save ours. We escaped, and we mourned his passing all day. It was the only day I can remember where we were so serious.
I would sacrifice my life, for the welfare of my master, and his friends' lives. I floated as fast as I could towards Giovanni, and closed my eyes. I concentrated and concentrated, and I could feel it start to happen. The toxic gases in my body were starting to react. "Weezing (Good bye)" was the last thing I said before the venomous gases in my body erupted.
"Weezing!!!!!" my master screeched.
I'm not sure what happened next, but I felt very funny. It was like I didn't weigh anything! I looked at myself, and I was lighter than I was supposed to be. I could almost see through myself! I also began to notice I was slowly floating up. Where was I going? I tried to resist this force, but I couldn't. It was then that I realized I was really dead. What was I? A ghost of some sort? A million questions were forming in my head. Wait, did I even have my head?
I begun to try and focus my attention down below. I saw Giovanni lying on the ground. I couldn't tell if he was dead or not, but he was out, that's for sure. The Articuno was nowhere in sight. Jessie, James, Meowth, Arbok, and he other rockets who weren't unconscious were coughing. The smoke soon began to clear up, and James tries to call for me.
"Weeezing!" he called. His voice echoed through the big building. I wanted to tell him I was here. I could hear him, but I couldn't do anything.
"Weezing?" he called more quietly. He looked around the room. James sunk to the ground. He was beginning to realize what had just happened. "Weezing?" he said, his voice shaking. Tears were forming in his eyes. "No," he broke into his hands, and began to sob.
A few seconds later, Jessie went up to him, and sat down beside him, wrapping her arms around his body. James accepted the embrace, and buried his face in her chest.
"Why did he do it, Jess?" he asked, still crying. "Why?"
By then, Jessie had started crying too. "I really don't know James," She said. "Maybe he just wanted to make you happy. He wanted to save us."
"But I didn't want Weezing to do that. I didn't want him to..." He began to cry harder.
Jessie took of her gloves, and began to rub his back while gently rocking him. "I'm sorry James. I'm really sorry. I know how you feel, and I know it hurts. It hurts a lot. I'm so sorry."
I wanted to go down there and tell them I was still there. I didn't know my master would be this sad. I had never intended it to be like this.
Jessie had managed to soothe James a little bit, now he was just silently crying, still in her arms. The whole room was as quiet as a Rattata sneaking in a warehouse in the middle of the night. It was then I began to notice it. I looked around and I saw Meowth crying, then I saw some of the Rockets start to cry! Eventually I could see everyone in the room shed tears. Some of these tough Rocket men were crying, over me? Maybe they thought it was so sad how my master was so upset he lost one of his oldest friends.
I looked at Arbok, and I saw her shed a tear also. Now, Arbok was such a strong pokemon, she had seldom cried as an Ekans, and I had never seen her cry as an Arbok. I then was sure that everyone in the room was crying. Once again, I began to feel very strange. I could see myself glow and I started to sink, slowly to the ground. My skin was also starting to return to its normal shade if purple. Was I being reincarnated?
Jessie was the one who first noticed me. "James look," she whispered.
My master turned around and whipped the tears from his eyes. He stared at me for a few seconds. "Weezing?" he said. More tears began to form.
I floated over to him, and nodded. James then took of one of his gloves, and brought his hand forth to me. He cautiously began to touch me. Then a most extraordinary thing happened. I was happy. Really happy. I was back with my master, and alive! My lips curved into a smile. As soon as it happened I began to glow again. Once again, I felt funny. It was just like when I evolved the previous time. Was I evolving again? I could feel something growing on my bottom. And I started to get bigger while I slowly sank to the ground. When I finished glowing, I landed on the ground with a small thud.
I looked at myself for a moment, and then got up. I was no longer floating. Was this possible? Was I actually really corporeal? I had legs, and arms! Koffings and Weezings were neither corporeal or spirits of any sort. We didn't fit in either group. Only we knew that. I wiggled my new body parts, and could see this would take a little getting used to, but nevertheless, I was no longer a Wheezing.
My master was staring at me, not moving at all. He slowly took his gloves off, and brought his hand forth to me. His warm hand touched my purple skin, it felt nice to be petted again.
A semi-low "Yad" arose from my throat.
"Yad?" James repeated.
"Dko!" I said excitedly. I gave him a giant grin - how nice it felt to smile again!
My master blinked once, and then smiled. "Whatever you may be now, I'm happy to have you with me." He said giving me a hug.
"Yadko!" I said returning it.
"I can't believe it," Jessie said, transfixed by me.
"Neither can I, but I'm happy." James said looking at me, grinning. "You scared me a lot Wheez..." He hesitated. "Errrrr, Yad. I just wish I knew what you now are. But I don't really care if I don't know actually, you're just too cute!" he went on. He was started to get hyper, I could tell . "Well, I don't really care about that either, just as long as you're back in some form or another," he said more seriously.
"Yad Yad (me too)." I said, still ecstatic about my ability to smile once again.
Meowth came forth. "Nice ta have you back," he said giving me a smile also.
"Yad dkon( Hi Meowth)!" I said, practicing my smiling technique again.
I shifted my vision to a Rocket who was approaching us. I was scared at first, trying my best to hide behind my master. But legs were a new thing to me, it was to work them at first.
James noticed me, and picked me up, putting me into his lap. I could tell he was scared of the towering man also. He gulped.
He finally stood right above us. "Here," was all he said, handing James some sort of item.
James stared at it, not knowing whether he had antagonistic or friendly intentions. After a moment, he took it, and opened the black, and gray thing up. "Oh it's a pokdex!" he exclaimed.
Jessie, and Meowth fell over.
"Thanks!" he said, after looking at the two. "Is this a new kind of pokdex?" he asked.
"It's version six point five," the man replied, in his low voice. "Top of the line. Giovanni had his best-trained Rockets swipe this newest version from Silph a while ago. It has over two hundred new pokemon, it's the best ever made. The pokdex project was kept secret until we found out about it." He snickered. "Team Rocket couldn't get away with the master ball, but this heist was successful!"
He pounded his enormous hand into his fist, which let out a chorus of "Yeah's" from the Rockets up by Giovanni.
Neither James, nor Jessie had noticed what was really going up above. But I had. Giovanni was waking up! "Yad." I said, tugging on my master's shirt, fearfully.
"What?" he asked, paying attention to me.
"Dko Yadko (look up there)!" I said pointing towards Giovanni.
James looked up. "Uh oh," was all he said with enormous eyes.
Above, the Rockets were actually helping Giovanni up on his chair! And I thought they were being genuine with the tears and all!
I had failed after all. My friends would not get away, I should have made my explosion more powerful! He looked like a charcoaled mess, but I should have been more successful!
"Seize them!" he tried to yell, but it came out really hoarse.
"Yadko (I'm sorry)," I said to my master.
He squeezed me, saying nothing. I had not noticed at first, but Jessie had put a comforting hand on James' shoulder. I only had when he looked up, and grasped it. Then something totally unexpected happened once again this day.
"No," said the Rocket that was in front of us. "I will not seize them." His one voice projected all across the stadium. It held power, and was dignified.
Giovanni looked at him, as though he had committed some reprehensible crime. They stared each other down for a moment, and then the Rocket spoke again.
"They don't deserve to suffer your iniquitous dictatorship any longer. I am letting them go."
Neither Giovanni nor the Rockets above said anything.
"You must leave soon," the big Rocket said, looking at us.
James put me down and stood up. "Thank you," he said quietly. "But what will you do?"
"Don't worry about me," he replied. "Giovanni will not do anything."
"Do you want this back?" James asked, handing him the pokdex.
"No. I know you will find it more useful. You keep it." He knelt down to me. "And take care of your Yadkon." He gave me a pat on the head. "He is a treasure worth cherishing."
"Yadkon?" the three of them said in unison.
"Yad?" I said.
He chuckled. "Alright. You must go now." His tone grew more serious. "Giovanni may seek revenge someday." He looked at us. "You will grow stronger. Have faith in yourselves."
James nodded and picked me up again.
Jessie took out a pokball. "Arbok, I'm sorry, but you're going to have to be confined for a little while. You're in no condition to slither."
"Charbokaaa Char (It's okay go ahead)," she replied weakly, and was instantly sucked into the pokball.
"Let's go guys," Meowth said, climbing up on Jessie's head. "Tanks Mister."
"Thank you," Jessie said to the man, and headed out with Meowth.
James held out his free arm to the mysterious stranger who had just saved our lives. And he took it.
"Yad Yad (Thank you very much)."
"We won't forget what you have done for us," James said sincerely. "Bye."
And with that being said, James took off with me to catch up with our friends. As we went, I could feel Giovanni's cold eyes following us.
When we got home, and Jessie had let Arbok outside, James took the pokdex out from his pocket.
"Yadkon huh?" he said. "Let's see what this tells us." He focused the transparent lens onto me.
"Yadkon." The mechanical voice registered. "One of the world's rarest pokemon, this evolution of Weezing is said to have extraordinary power of the poison and fire variety. This pokmon is said to have only evolved if only in its Weezing form it had found something to be truly happy about."
"Weezing found something to be happy about," James repeated, getting teary again.
"He sure did, James," Jessie replied, sitting down beside me. "Oh, and what's neat is that he's a fire pokmon too!"
"Yeah!" Meowth said. "Once you loin some fire attacks, maybe you can protect us from these Beedrill infested areas we seem to run into. Ay buddy?" He nudged me.
"Yadko (Sure)," I replied, giggling.
James smiled. "Hey Jessie," he said, getting her attention. "I forgot to thank you too."
"Thanks for what?" she asked, but I knew.
"Thank you for being there for me today, Jess. Your support helped me a lot."
She smiled. "No need for thanks. I would do it anytime. Just like I know you would be there for me."
"You're right. I would be there for you too. Always." They linked arms, and headed inside, Meowth following them. Arbok and I stayed outside.
"Yad Yad Yadko Yad (How are you my friend)?" I asked.
"Charbok Char Char Charboka (I've been better, but don't worry about me)," she replied. "Char Charbokaaaa Charbok (Question is, how are you)?"
"Dkon Yad Yad Yadko Yad Yad (I am fine, but these legs are hard to work)," I giggled.
She smiled. "Charbok Char (You'll get used to them)."
"Yadkon (Hey Arbok)..."
"Char (Yes)?"
"Yadkon Yad Yad (I never saw you cry)."
"Char Charbok Char Charbokaaaa (Yes, but how long have I known you)?"
"Yad (A long time)."
"Char Charbok (That's right)," she said seriously. "Char Charboka Charbok Charrr Charboka Char Char (Even with how tough I am, I care about you as much as I care about my master)."
"Yad (Ohhhh)," I said, quietly.
"Char Charbok Charboka Char (Your act of valor hurt me immensely too)," she continued, seriously.
"Yadkon Yad Yad Yadko (I'm sorry, I love you too)," I replied bursting into tears.
"Char Char Charrr (No no nooo)," she assured. "Char Charbok Char Charbokaaa (Do you realize that you saved us all)?"
"Yad Yadkon Yad Dko (But Giovanni did try and kill us again)," I said ashamedly. "Yad Yadkon (I failed)."
"Char (No)!" she exclaimed. "Charboka Charbok (Listen to me)."
I looked up at her.
"Charbok Char Charboka Char Char Charbok (You tried to save us all, and in essence, you were successful)," she said genuinely. "Char Charbok Charboka Char (I am very proud of you, and so is your master)."
"Yadkon (Thank you)," I sniffed.
She swung her tail over to me, and wrapped it around me. "Char Charbok Charr (Just don't ever do it again)."
I patted her. "Yad (Okay)."
She closed her eyes. "Charbok Chaaaaar (The sun, it does good)."
"Yadkon Dko Yad (Especially to you)," I chuckled. "Deko Yad Yad Dkon (But it does feel very nice today)."
"Char (Yes)." She paused. "Char Charboka Char Charr Charbok (And I know it is not a coincidence it is right now, Yadkon)." She laid her head down, and I lay down next to her. This moment was special. Our future was uncertain, and so was Giovanni's path of destruction, but now, right at this moment, I was safe with my snake friend. And my master, and his friends were safe as well. That was all that mattered to me. I drifted of to sleep out there under the sun, beside my friend. And I thought of this feeling of securness I had never experienced.
