Sarbajanin Durgapuja is a common practice and many
on roadsides. Chaiman, DGHC has discouraged the use of clay murti idol of
devi Durga. So people worship large size photos of Durga. After Dussera the
photo is kept back in the village temple and not discarded. A nice plan to
reduce pollution in the mountains and must welcome. |

Mr. Nardhoj Rai and his wife Mrs. Janumati (Owner
of Damsang lodge) offered us a ritual lunch on the occasion of Dussera. The
Jilebi like preparation seen on the right side is “Sail roti”. People eat
this in Dussera festival. Rice flour paste is fried in oil to prepare it.
Taste is salty and not sweet. Oh yes! It’s delicious. |
