Neonatal Operational policy. To provide level III
care, capable of providing comprehensive intensive medical and
nursing care to newborn babies. To promote Breast Feeding via
application of the 10 steps recommended by WHO and the Kuwait
national committee - MOH (Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative - BFHI).
To provide a specialist neonatal training to post graduate doctors
and promote continous medical education for inservice doctors

� Endocrine
Operational Policy The unit is a sub-specialty unit
so, patients are seen by referral. Urgent cases are seen without
referral. Referrals are made from the polyclinics and the primary
health clinics to the unit. The majority of the patients are from
the residential areas that belong to the hospital, however some are
seen from outside the area because not all the hospitals have
pediatric diabetic units. Referrals are also made from the general
pediatric department of the hospital, some are referred from the

Department News� Since
Nov.2005 we are working in Three units general pediatrics
Saturday 5 Nov.2005, 2005-04-27
Now we are divided in 5 units A,B,C,Dand Neonate. The daily work
Schedule for Unit C: Admission days for unit C are Saturdays and
Mondays and alternating Fridays. Patients�care responsibilities are
distributed among the assistant registrars and the registrars of the
unit. Cases are seen by the assistants and reviwed with the
registrars. The senior registrars and the specialists review any
case when needed. Saturday: Ward round starts at 10:00 am, after all
cases have been seen and assessed by the responsibly phsicians. The
round are run by the head of the unit. All cases are seen during the
round, and those who are more critical or in which further decisions
need to be taken are seen in more details. Interesting and rare
cases are discussed with the medical students, trainees, family
doctors as part of their educational and training programs

we have 27 outpatient rooms Saturday 5

Each unit has one day of general pediatric outpatient clinics per
week, in which there are 5 rooms. The patients are seen strictly by
referral.There are also 4 sub-specialty clinics per weeks. They are
run by consultants, senior specialists and senior registrars, in

� Evacuation
policy in case of emergency The maps of the emergency
exists are mounted on the wall of all hospital departments. All
employees should carefully study these maps to be aware of the
emergency exits in their places or wards.2-Each fire alarm box
contains a key of the emergency exit door that is located near the
door (the reserve key is kept with nurse in charge).3-The cover of
this box could be broken to take the key form the box to open the
emergency exit door to allow patients to use the emergency stairs t
