| FIRST 1/2 CREDIT--Parent Release Form and Initial Contact With Student 1-1. Complete and return the RELEASE FORM. Get student's name & email address from Steve and make contact. SAVE ALL CORRESPONDENCE TO & FROM YOUR STUDENT. Student's name & email address: _________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ 1-2. Look at all sections in the school website. To translate, copy the words in French at the website, paste them into the ePals translator, PRINT the translation. 1-3. Find and print a map of the country. List 10 demographic facts about the country. COMPLETE THE FIRST 1/2 CREDIT BEFORE BEGINNING WORK ON THE SECOND 1/2 CREDIT. |
| SECOND 1/2 CREDIT--Life in French Polynesia... 2-1. Find out about life in French Polynesia--life in general, their family, work, school, what they do with their "free time", religion, business/commerce, energy, water, health care, vision for the future, etc. 2-2. Country information--check your map and ask questions--how big is the country? How do people get from one place to another? What are the favorite "tourist spots"? Pick one and describe how you'd get from their school site to the tourist spot. 2-3. Translate one of your letters into French using the ePals translator. Find out from your student how well they understood the translation. 2-4. Ask for at least 3-5 photos of favorite places in their country. SAVE ALL CORRESPONDENCE TO/FROM YOUR STUDENT. YOU MAY WORK ON THE SECOND AND THIRD 1/2 CREDITS AT THE SAME TIME. |
| THIRD 1/2 CREDIT--Life in Porterville and the USA... 3-1. Answer your student's questions about life in the USA--include items listed in 2.1 and any additional questions asked. CLICK HERE for a list. 3-2. Tell your student about 3-5 of your favorite "tourist spots" in the USA. Sent at least 3-5 photos of your favorite spots. SAVE ALL CORRESPONDENCE TO/FROM YOUR STUDENT. |
| FOURTH 1/2 CREDIT--What I've Learned COMPLETE THE FIRST THROUGH THIRD 1/2 CREDITS BEFORE BEGINNING THE FOURTH. 4-1. Share what you've learned about your new friend, life in French Polynesia, and life in the USA. Do this via website section, PowerPoint(r), or poster. Discuss your ideas with Steve BEFORE you being the project. 4-2. Share artwork ideas with Susan 4-3. Create project 4-4. Meet with Steve to evaluate this assignment and your experience. |
