| Welcome to the 2006 Polar Husky Adventure! Students currently enrolled in Biology or Earth Science may complete the units and earn credit--a completed UNIT DESCRIPTION SHEET will yield 1/2 credit. If this is your first time with Polar Husky, begin by completing the INTRODUCING POLAR HUSKY unit. |
| "C" LEVEL--complete all items. [ ] C1 _______ TRAIL UPDATE and TIMBER NEWS read both for four weeks and take notes each week (Cornell format). [ ] C2 _______ MAP--create and maintain a map that covers the adventure from start to the end of this four week period--plot beginning to current locations. [ ] C3 _______ EXPEDITION SCRAPBOOK,--look at ONE of the following each week (cover all by the end of the unit--[ ] _______ PHOTO JOURNAL, [ ] _______ POLAR MOVIES, [ ] ________ SOUNDS OF THE ARCTIC, and [ ] _______ QTVR MOVIES. Take Cornell notes. [ ] C4 _______ FIELD RESEARCH--pick one area of research, read, and take notes (Cornell format). [ ] C5 _______ WEEKLY QUIZZES--take online, print results--score 70%+ [ ] C6 _______ SUMMARY PAPER--Write a 1 to 3 page paper about this four week segment of the jjourney. Spell & grammar check it...include at least three to five facts: --------------------BIOLOGY students--"What I've learned about living things, people, dogs, wild animals, plants, etc. and how this relates to what I'm studying in biology." --------------------EARTH SCIENCE students--"What I've learned about land, terrain, resources, earthquakes, etc and how this relates to what I'm studying in Earth science.." |
