WITH PHILIPPE BURNEY 12/20/01

1.  Rumor has it that you like making babies.   Tell us about the latest
member in the Burney family.

It's alot more fun making them than raising them. Celeste is looking forward to cheering on the boys for next season.  In the mean time she's focusing on growing big and strong so she can be as much help as she can for next season.

2.  When were you first introduced to the team and what did you think?
   
    I was first introduced in fall of 1999 or 2000 when I started looking
for a local team to play with locally.
    I think my quote of "What do you mean we are not going out to the bar
after the game?" sums it up (you bunch of youngsters you).
   
3.  Was it the happiest day of your life when your daughters were born or
when your wife Leigh was fan of the week?

Leah  is spelled L-E-A-H
    As much as Leah appreciates the award, the happiest day of my life was
when Samantha was born.  In case you weren't aware, her nick name is Peaty,
derived from Peatage (no, not really).  I'm not joking, that's actually is
her nickname.

4.  You're definitely a man of many talents.  You've won the Most Improved
Player award and also repeatedly won the Sportsmanship award.  Your lifetime
batting average is .464.  So tell us what goal(s) you might set for next
season.

    My goals for next year are to improve my batting average and on base
percentage.  I would also like to see if my arm is recovered enough to get
me back out to third base.  As always, my most important goal is to have as
much fun as possible when playing.  You guys have been great to play with.

5.  On a scale of 1 to 10. 1 being a baby and 10 being an all star,
rate the following ball players:

Carl Yastremski with the big sideburns= 10
Carl Yastremski with small sideburns= 1 (If your going to be an individual,

6.  Why does Baby Elephant Walk play when viewing your Peetage profile?
Also how did you earn the nickname "Flip"?
   
    A)  Because I'm the man............man.
    B) Here's the history:
When I was a high school wrestler going out for my first match, I got tied
up with a guy and somehow managed to flip him over my head and lambasted him
all over the matt.  He was injured and couldn't continue.  I was DQ'd. 
This event birthed the nickname " The Flipper".  I still have my Stevenson
Wrestling warm-ups with "The Flipper" printed on the back.
My friends shortened this to Flip and my very best friend ( being he rebel
he was ) called me Flop.  While he is no longer with us, the name has stuck
with my high school buddies.
While " The Flipper" in its original form has faded to my past, Flip and
Flop are alive and well in the 2000's.

7.  What past baseball experience do you have?

    I have played softball for the last 8 years on both city leagues and
Competitive travel teams in Waterford and Brownstown.  I had a major
operation 3 1/2 years ago which took me out of the travel leagues and when
Samantha came around I decided it was best to find a local team to play on.
Hence here I am.

9.  Is it true that you used to weigh 300lbs?

297lbs to be exact.  I have
pictures if someone has a scanner.

10.  Your wife, let's just say is very attractive.  So tell us, how did a
guy like YOU end up with HER? 

Does this mean you guys have been secretly
checking out my wife? 
Leah was the hot sophomore dating a guy down the hall from me my freshman
year.  Me and the guy across the hall made a bet to see who could hook up
with her first. 
I won.

11.  Has Philippe Burney ever:

Danced the funky chicken= Yes

Watched the Barney show and liked it= About twice a week currently

12.  What other positions have you played besides C and 3B? (Answer this
question in French)

Just because I can speak it doesn't mean I can spell it.
I used to play left field until I got beaned in the head by a fly ball.  Now
I'm too chicken and my right arm can't make the throw anymore.

13.  If you were stuck in an elevator and could have 2 teammates with you,
who would they be and why ?

Carl, because he's huge and could rip open the doors or pull us back up.
Casey so he can yell at Carl to get off his ass and save us :-)

14.  Who is your favorite former Peatage player? (Ex: Lorne, Kyle, Scott,
Jeff, Gary, Ritz, Jimmy "airwolf" Moore, Craig, Mark (Scott Krimm's brother
in law))

I miss " The Machine Gun"

15.  Tell us one thing about yourself that the team doesn't already know.

I get choked up when I hear the end of the song Puff the Magic Dragon

16.  Your profile says that your pre-game meal is "Peatage Pie".  Now what
is that all about?

You are what you eat.

17.  What do you remember about the following years:

1969= On New Years Day (1-1-69), I remember going to a party with my dad,
and leaving with my mom. (hint: I was born 9-14-69, get it?)
1988= My Best friend died in a car accident.
1990= Bon Jovi became popular
1999= Met the Peatage boys
2001= I bought my first assault rifle (That's right, I own an M16 and an
AK47).

18.  If you could be Carl for a day, what would you do with yourself and to
others?

With all those women he surrounds himself with, I don't feel I can go into
that on a family oriented web page.
