Varsity/JV Qualifications
Requirements for JV:

A Smash athelete must win a four-player free-for-all match with Varsity or JV players.
Requirements for Varsity:

The Varsity-JV line is decided by the ranking system; the top seven people (as of Feb. 27, 2004) on the Smash team rankings are considered as Varsity atheletes. Smash athelete already on JV, therefore, must ascend in the rankings to become a Varsity member. In order to rise in the rankings, a player must challenge the player right above him/her in the ranking to a feature match. When the challenge is accepted, the two atheletes will play a feature match (two-out-of-three one-on-ones). The winner of the game gets the higher seat in the rankings; in other words, if the challenger wins, s/he rises one seat in the ranking, and if the challenger loses, the ranking remains the same. However, if the challenge is declined over three times, than the challenger automatically becomes the winner, and rises one place in the ranking.
