The Rules page describes the standard Peasant Magic tournament rules in detail. This page contains variants to that format.

The restricted format applies the same rarity rules that Wizards of the Coast applies to later expansions to earlier expansions. Using this variant, certain cards that are Uncommon become Rare. Jason Chapman's Proposed Rarity document describes the rationale behind each card that is removed, as well as providing a list by expansion of the affected cards. The Simple Rarity List document, also compiled by Jason Chapman, list the affected cards in alphabetical order.

Players may not have more than two (2) copies of each banned or restricted cards in their deck.
Players must abide by the restrictions of Type I decks (as described by the DCI), including limiting or eliminating the use of restricted or banned cards. In such a tournament, Unglued, Starter, and Portal would not be allowed supplements. All other deck construction limitations would remain in place. Whether this format will ever be accepted by the DCI remains to be seen.
The players may have a sideboard of 15 common cards.
A variant conceived by Jason Chapman, this format only allows the use of common cards. Additionally, a deck may not contain card duplicates except for lands.
Another low-cost variant conceived by "Loonook". From Loonook:
"My local players have been playing such a system for well over a year and have enjoyed it. In that system the decks are based on price (as of the first printing after each new set) of cards (max. of 30$ US may be played). Deemed Ghetto-Smax, it has been well recieved by the players of the time. I would also suggest this as a format, as its rules (All Legal, up to 30$) allow for a deck to be built that can be strong but easy to afford.
Thanks to Jeremy "Pocket Change" McDonough for this variant.
A few people have draft boxes for normal magic and so I thought it would be a neat idea to have a sort of "Peasant Draft Box" to introduce the peasant format to people and for current peasant players to use since they seem to be missing out on the draft experience.
Packs:
Unlike normal "pack" situations, I generally don't have an odd assortment of colors. The packs breakdown is as follows:
All cards are chosen from randomized stacks by color and rarity to keep things straight.
Explanation for the format/setup:
This setup allows for a diverse draft game and is pretty fun. As I do play normal magic and that takes up most of my collection, I have limited the peasant draft box to the 5th copy of any un/common that I get- keeping the box small until I can get the cash but still allowing for a lot of fun and diversity out of my collection of over 14,000 cards or so.
Also to keep the drafts interesting, I've limited only 1 copy of any un/common to the draft box- this way the players also learn from the box by seeing oddball cards being used in the decks.
Through all of the strange things that make up the box, I have still managed to keep the format of peasant magic in tact- limit of 5 maximum uncommons in the main deck(the change being that you can swap maindeck uncommons for other uncommons you may have drafted) and the rest have to be commons.
